A one‐step modulated hydrothermal method is adopted to synthesize nickel‐ion‐doped HKUST‐1, or Ni@HKUST‐1. The resultant MOF yields a higher surface area and a higher hydrogen uptake capacity than the pristine HKUST‐1. The higher H2 uptake capability is attributed to fine‐tuning of microstructure to increase porosity and stronger H2 adsorption through ...

We establish virial and localized virial identities for solutions to the Hartree hierarchy, an infinite system of partial differential equations which arises in mathematical modeling of many body quantum systems.

Exploring Routes to Calculating the Effective Magnetic Permeability of Polymer Magnetic Composites
Schematic of a static (undeformed) configuration of the magnetic‐filled polymer network for a semi‐crystalline sample. ABSTRACT Our understanding of the effective magnetic permeability of composite materials composed of randomly dispersed metallic ferromagnetic particles within a nonmagnetic (polymer) matrix must respond to several challenges.

Electron and nuclear pressures in electron-nucleus mixtures
It is shown for an electron-nucleus mixture that the electron and nuclear pressures are defined clearly and simply by the virial theorem; the total pressure of this system is a sum of these two pressures.

A hygroscopic cellulose implemented as an artificial stem markedly facilitates the surface evaporation in artificial tree devices and greatly enhances the device stability. The direct enhancement of surface evaporation rate by leaf area increase is demonstrated.

Equation of State for Parallel Rigid Spherocylinders
The pair distribution function of monodisperse rigid spherocylinders is calculated by Shinomoto's method, which was originally proposed for hard spheres.

Local virial relation and velocity anisotropy for collisionless self-gravitating systems
The collisionless quasi-equilibrium state realized after the cold collapse of self-gravitating systems has two remarkable characters. One of them is the linear temperature-mass (TM) relation, which yields a characteristic non-Gaussian velocity ...

On the Virial Equation for Gases and Vapours [PDF]
ALTHOUGH I had, some time ago, written to Lord Rayleigh to the effect that I did not intend to prolong the discussion of this question, it may perhaps be expected that I should say a few words with reference to Prof. Korteweg's paper in the last issue of NATURE.

Kinetic energy functional for Fermi vapors in spherical harmonic confinement
Two equations are constructed which reflect, for fermions moving independently in a spherical harmonic potential, a differential virial theorem and a relation between the turning points of kinetic energy and particle densities.

The Virial Equations of the Fourth Order
The virial equations of the fourth order are derived; and the results of certain formal developments needed for their practical usefulness are also given, The equations are then used to locate the neutral points, along the Maclaurin and the Jacobian sequences, that belong to the fourth harmonics.
