A Novel Green Method for Producing Medical‐Grade Chitosan From Loligo plei Squid Pens

open access: yesJournal of Applied Polymer Science, Volume 143, Issue 25, July 5, 2026.
This work demonstrates a sustainable and simplified process for the production of medical‐grade chitosan from the feathers of the squid Loligo plei, employing mild chemical treatments to preserve the integrity of the polymer while achieving high purity and performance.

Can an Ab Initio Three-Body Virial Equation Describe the Mercury Gas Phase?

open access: yes, 2016
We report a sixth-order ab initio virial equation of state (EOS) for mercury. The virial coefficients were determined in the temperature range from 500 to 7750 K using a three-body approximation to the N-body interaction potential.

Global well-posedness and scattering for the focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the nonradial case [PDF]

open access: yesOpuscula Mathematica, 2012
The energy-critical, focusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation in the nonradial case reads as follows: \[i\partial_t u = -\Delta u -|u|^{\frac{4}{N-2}}u,\quad (x,0)=u_0 \in H^1 (\mathbb{R}^N),\quad N\geq 3.\] Under a suitable assumption on the maximal ...

Oxoaporphine‐Metformin Rhodium(III) Hybrid Ionic Complex With Antidiabetes and Anticancer Effects: New Insights From DFT Computations

open access: yesInternational Journal of Quantum Chemistry, Volume 126, Issue 12, June 15, 2026.
DFT (GGA) analysis reveals that the Rh‐Met metallodrug forms a stable ionic pair driven by a network of supramolecular interactions. QTAIM and IGMH insights elucidate the quantum‐mechanical nature of intra‐ and intermolecular contacts governing its self‐assembly and structural organization in the crystal. ABSTRACT A recently proposed (J. Am. Chem. Soc.

Determination of chain conformation of polysaccharides using a SEC‐MALLS‐Vis

open access: yesFood Biomacromolecules, Volume 3, Issue 2, Page 273-280, June 2026.
Abstract For polysaccharides, biological activity is associated with the chemical structure as well as the chain conformation. The chain conformation is conventionally derived from the scaling relationships between weight‐average molecular weight (Mw) and intrinsic viscosity ([η]) or the radius of gyration (Rg) or the translational diffusion ...

The Experimental Study of PVTx Properties of Near Aeotropic Mixture Refrigerant R290/R134a

open access: yesZhileng xuebao, 2014
In order to get the thermophysical properties of mixed refrigerants R134a/R290, the author built PVTx experimental system with high accuracy. Based on the Burnett method, the author measured the PVT properties of R134a/R290 with mass fraction 50%/50%, 55%

Self-consistent approximation and fifth virial coefficients

open access: yes, 1972
The self-consistent approximation of Rushbrooke and Hutchinson is extended so as to give consistent virial coefficients to any order by expanding the parameter Φ in terms of density, namely φ(p.T) :∗sum∞l-4; φi(T)pl-4 By using ...

Investigating the role of a conserved hydrophobic pocket of gp41 in the anti‐HIV activity of fusion inhibitors

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 6, June 2026.
Abstract Membrane fusion between HIV and host cells requires interaction between the N‐terminal and C‐terminal repeat regions (NHR and CHR) of the gp41 envelope subunit. A deep hydrophobic pocket (HP) on the surface of NHR is considered crucial in this interaction.
