A new optimization procedure for the accurate characterization of thermal phase transformation curves based on controlled quenching experiments

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2016
Precise hardness and phase content prediction for quenched steel with the finite element method requires optimal material data, which is usually obtained from measured continuous cooling transformation (CCT) diagrams. However, most software packages that

Virtualization gate [PDF]

open access: yesACM SIGGRAPH 2009 Emerging Technologies, 2009
This project associates multi-camera 3D modeling, physical simulation, and tracked head-mounted displays for a strong full-body immersion and presence in virtual worlds. Three-dimensional modeling is based on the EPHV algorithm, which provides an exact geometrical surface according to input data. The geometry enables computation of full-body collisions

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Virtual landmarks [PDF]

open access: yesSPIE Proceedings, 2017
Much has been published on finding landmarks on object surfaces in the context of shape modeling. While this is still an open problem, many of the challenges of past approaches can be overcome by removing the restriction that landmarks must be on the object surface.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Artificial Intelligence and Mental Well‐Being in Adult Education: Implications for Practice and Professional Responsibility

open access: yesNew Directions for Adult and Continuing Education, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Mental well‐being is central to adult learner success, yet many adult education institutions lack capacity to provide timely and accessible support. This article examines how artificial intelligence (AI) can strengthen mental health–adjacent supports in adult and continuing higher education, with attention to professional practice and ...
