EMG‐Driven Telemetry and Inference System for Fish: Pose Reconstruction and Flow Sensing
This work introduces an electromyography (EMG)‐driven telemetry framework that reconstructs body pose and infers hydrodynamic conditions in freely swimming fish. A custom 16‐channel archival system records intramuscular EMG, enabling deep‐learning models to decode joint kinematics, classify flow regimes, and reveal channel‐efficient sensing strategies.

Assessing Room Acoustic Memory using a Yes/No and a 2-AFC Paradigm
We present a study that tests the ability to remember room acoustics-a cognitive skill that is one of the guiding mechanisms behind plausible virtual acoustics for extended realities.

Perception of loudness and envelopment for different orchestral dynamics
One of the main factors that makes listening to live concerts emotionally engaging is the dynamic changes in the music. Recent research has shown that concert hall acoustics can affect the perception of orchestral dynamics, but hardly any listening tests

Virtual reflector representation theorem (acoustic medium)
The virtual reflector method simulates new seismic signals by processing traces recorded by a plurality of sources and receivers. The approach is based on the crossconvolution of the recorded signals and makes it possible to obtain the Green’s function of virtual reflected signals as if in the position of the receivers (or sources) there were a ...

Guiding and Manipulating Light Fields in Microstructured Liquid Crystals
This review summarizes recent advances in guided‐wave optics enabled by microstructured liquid crystal (LC) devices, covering their fundamental material properties, key degree of freedom for dynamic light field manipulations. The advances of linear guided‐wave optics, nonlinear‐optics with spatial optical solitons, and microlasers in LC‐based devices ...

Chlorella vulgaris biorefineries: sustainable biofuels and high‐value carbon capture
Abstract Global reliance on fossil fuels has created urgent economic and environmental challenges, yet large‐scale use of algal biomass remains limited by production costs. Industrial scaling is constrained by inefficient harvesting and the technical challenges of processing recalcitrant cell walls.

Visually adaptive virtual sound imaging using loudspeakers
Advances in computer technology and low cost cameras open up new possibilities for three dimensional (3D) sound reproduction. The problem is to update the audio signal processing scheme for a moving listener, so that the listener perceives only the ...

Geometrical acoustics is well suited for real-time room acoustics simulation and is often implemented using the image source model (ISM). One drawback of the ISM is its limitation to specular reflections, while sound scattering plays an important role in

Utterance evolution: the road to generative, combinatorial communicators
ABSTRACT Language has long been considered uniquely complex in the animal kingdom; however, animal research over the last decade has begun to challenge some long‐standing premises about exactly which language capacities are uniquely human. The task of resolving why and how complex communication systems evolve, particularly human language, has ...
