Ultrasound Modulation of Visual Circuits in Mice Independent of Auditory Confound
In this study, Qiu et al. found that low‐intensity ultrasound can directly activate sparse ultrasound‐sensitive neurons (UNs) in the primary visual cortex (V1) of deafened mice. The proportion of these sparse UNs is pressure‐dependent. Furthermore, ultrasound modulates visual circuitry with distinct excitatory and inhibitory effects.

Interactive low delay music and speech communication via network connections (OVBOX)
The “OVBOX” is a tool for low-delay network audio communication and generic data transmission between multiple clients. Acoustic end-to-end delays of about 30 ms can be achieved, assuming a good internet connection and a distance between clients of less ...

Isotropic-medium three-dimensional cloaks for acoustic and electromagnetic waves
We propose a generalization of the two-dimensional eikonal-limit cloak derived from a conformal transformation to three dimensions. The proposed cloak is a spherical shell composed of only isotropic media; it operates in the transmission mode and ...

The AAA+ ATPase Valosin‐containing protein (VCP/p97) regulates protein homeostasis by unfolding ubiquitinated substrates. Here, we describe UTE‐156, a novel irreversible covalent inhibitor that modifies Cys522 in the D2 ATPase motor domain. Although its pharmacochemical limitations preclude immediate therapeutic use, UTE‐156 serves as a valuable ...

Broadband Multizone Sound Rendering by Jointly Optimizing the Sound Pressure and Particle Velocity
In this paper, a recently proposed approach to multizone sound field synthesis, referred to as Joint Pressure and Velocity Matching (JPVM), is investigated analytically using a spherical harmonics representation of the sound field.
