Multiscale Modelling of the Electrocatalysis of Microenzymes: Insights Into the Performance of Microperoxidase at an Aqueous/Graphene Interface and Their Exploitation to Improve Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A novel multiscale MD/DFT framework to elucidate microenzyme adsorption and electron transfer is reported. This method reveals distinct configurations for microperoxidase‐11 on graphene and those best suited for electron transfer. Rate constants align with the limited experimental data, establishing this framework as a tool for optimizing microenzyme ...

Human‐Guided Bayesian Optimization Enables High‐Throughput Laser Annealing of Mesoporous SiOx Anodes for Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An empirical‐aided active learning framework is developed to optimize high‐throughput laser‐induced photothermal annealing of silicon suboxide anodes. By integrating probabilistic machine learning with empirical domain knowledge, this approach achieves optimal electrochemical performance using limited experiments.

Performance of four computer-coded verbal autopsy methods for cause of death assignment compared with physician coding on 24,000 deaths in low- and middle-income countries [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
BACKGROUND: Physician-coded verbal autopsy (PCVA) is the most widely used method to determine causes of death (CODs) in countries where medical certification of death is uncommon.

Gap‐Free Information Transfer in 4D‐STEM via Fusion of Complementary Scattering Channels

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Fused Full‐Field STEM (FF‐STEM) is introduced as a 4D‐STEM imaging modality that combines direct ptychography with tilt‐corrected dark‐field reconstruction in a single acquisition. Fourier‐space fusion using Wiener‐type spectral weighting closes the low‐frequency contrast gap inherent to bright‐field methods, delivering gap‐free, dose‐efficient, near ...

Computation and Structure‐Guided Arginine Scanning Engineers a Hyperactive AP Endonuclease for Multiplex Viral RNA Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Computational and structure‐guided arginine scanning rewires the DNA‐binding interface of APE1 to create APE1‐Evo, a hyperactive yet specific AP endonuclease. Integrated into the NAPTUNE‐V2.0 cascade, APE1‐Evo enables amplification‐free, multiplex viral RNA sensing for dengue virus and influenza A/B, highlighting a general strategy for engineering ...

Virtual Autopsy- A New Phase in Radiology

open access: yes, 2023
In the field of forensic science, an autopsy, usually referred to as a postmortem examination, is an invasive technique performed to determine the cause and manner of death after a death has happened. Technology improvements have given rise to a new term, "virtopsy," which describes a virtual autopsy that makes use of imaging methods like computed ...

Giant Magnetic Purcell Effect Induced by High‐Order Mie Resonances

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
High‐order Mie resonances in dielectric spheres selectively amplify magnetic dipole emission from Eu3+ emitters, producing a giant magnetic Purcell effect. Localized emitters can efficiently access high‐order resonant modes, and the low‐loss TiO2 platform enables direct far‐field observation of the enhanced emission.
