„AGMB 2021: Zuverlässig auch in stürmischen Zeiten”. Online-Jahrestagung der Arbeitsgemeinschaft für Medizinisches Bibliothekswesen (AGMB) e. V. vom 20. bis 22. September 2021

open access: yesGMS Medizin – Bibliothek – Information, 2021
From 20 to 22 September 2021, the annual meeting of the German Medical Library Association took place purely online for the second time. The restrictions on public life due to the corona situation did not yet allow the conference to be held again as an ...

Liquid‐Crystal‐Based Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface for 7 GHz Mobile Communication

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
The glass‐based liquid‐crystal reconfigurable intelligent surface (LC‐RIS) integrates active‐matrix driving and blind‐greedy phase optimization within a 5G‐NR OFDM framework. This enables continuously tunable and autonomous enhancement of wireless coverage. Leveraging the transparency and manufacturability of liquid crystal panels, it is ideally suited

Perception of Complex Emotional Body Language of a Virtual Character [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Virtual characters are a common phenomenon in serious game applications, and can enrich training environments for a range of different purposes. These characters can be used in games that have been developed to help people with learning difficulties ...

Toward Perception‐Native Electronic Skin: Bio‐Inspired In‐/Near‐Sensor and Neuromorphic Computing for Humanoid Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Dense tactile streams from across the humanoid body converge on collide in a central wiring and data bottleneck. By relocating computation closer to and then into the skin itself, near‐ and in‐sensor architectures, together with neuromorphic computing, chart a path toward perception‐native electronic skin, in which the conversion of stimulus into ...

Deep Contrastive Learning for High‐Throughput Prediction of Drug Resistance Mutations from Sequences

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents DeepMutDTA, a deep learning framework aimed at predicting mutation‐induced changes in protein‐drug interactions and prioritizing variants potentially linked to drug resistance. Trained on large‐scale data, it incorporates SimSiam‐MuTF, a label‐aware contrastive fine‐tuning strategy that encourages separation between WT and MT ...

Transcription Factor Promiscuity Drives Regulatory Rewiring and Evolvability in Gene Networks in Bacteria

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
When a master transcription factor (TF) is lost, bacteria can rapidly rewire gene regulatory networks by co‐opting related regulators. Using experimental evolution in Pseudomonas fluorescens, we show that TF promiscuity (low‐level, non‐cognate binding) provides the raw material for rewiring. Successful co‐option follows a predictable hierarchy governed

A virtual cocktail party: Supporting informal social interactions in a virtual conference [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Whilst the primary purpose of conferences is work — formal exchange and sharing of information — they almost always also include elements of play: Informal social and entertainment elements, such as receptions, dinners, and tourism activities.

Functional Suppression of SCAP Triggers Endoplasmic Reticulum Stress‐Dependent Ferroptosis by Impairing Cholesterol Metabolism in Gastric Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals a novel GC therapy targeting cholesterol homeostasis. Inhibiting the SCAP sterol‐sensing domain causes lethal ER stress via cholesterol accumulation, paradoxically forcing continuous synthesis that triggers ferroptosis. The findings link sterol sensing, metabolic dysregulation, and ferroptosis, establishing an anti‐cancer paradigm ...
