Drone Virtual Fence Using a Neuromorphic Camera
International Conference on Neuromorphic Systems 2021, 2021Neuromorphic cameras are well suited to detect the motion of propellers (blades) on Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), or drones. In this paper, we introduce the concept of a virtual fence which is a low-cost networked situational awareness device to quickly alert that a drone has entered the zone.

Research platform for cattle virtual fences
2020 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology (ICIT), 2020Prior work in virtual fences has proposed different schemes to keep cattle confined within a remotely configured perimeter. These techniques share a common pattern that consists in placing an electronic device in the animal capable of applying a stimulation when it approaches the pre-established limits.

Can virtual fences reduce wombat road mortalities?
Ecological Engineering, 2021Abstract Roadkill is a worldwide issue that can cause local population extinctions. In Australia numerous species are affected, however the bare-nosed wombat (Vombatus ursinus) is particularly vulnerable due to its preference for disturbed habitats. Collisions with motor vehicles causes significant damage to the vehicle and sometimes the driver, as ...

Virtual fencing – past, present and future1
The Rangeland Journal, 2007Virtual fencing is a method of controlling animals without ground-based fencing. Control occurs by altering an animal’s behaviour through one or more sensory cues administered to the animal after it has attempted to penetrate an electronically-generated boundary.

Virtual Fence for a Surveillance System
2009This paper presents a method for defining one or more virtual restricted zones within a surveillance area which is observed with stereo cameras. When an object enters a restricted zone, the system highlights the object shown in the monitoring screen or triggers other devices to produce a visual or auditory alarm. The proposed method works by extracting
