FASLG Derived from Fibroblasts in Hydroxyapatite‐Rich Microenvironment Induces Urothelial Anoikis to Trigger Randall's Plaque Exposure

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Randall's plaques (RP) serve as the nidus for calcium oxalate (CaOx) kidney stones. The current study reveals that hydroxyapatite (HAP) crystals activate the THY1–GSK3α/β–β‐catenin axis in renal interstitial fibroblasts (hRIFs), inducing FASLG secretion.

A generalized resource allocation framework in support of multi-layer virtual network embedding based on SDN

open access: yes, 2015
Network Virtualization (NV) allows multiple heterogeneous architectures to simultaneously coexist in a shared infrastructure. Embedding multiple virtual networks (VNs) in a shared substrate deals with efficient mapping of virtual resources in the ...

Physics‐Embedded Neural Network: A Novel Approach to Design Polymeric Materials

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Traditional black‐box models for polymer mechanics rely solely on data and lack physical interpretability. This work presents a physics‐embedded neural network (PENN) that integrates constitutive equations into machine learning. The approach ensures reliable stress predictions, provides interpretable parameters, and enables performance‐driven, inverse ...

Crystal Facet‐Polysaccharide Matching in CFS‐P Nanocrystals Drives Fungal Uptake, Vacuole Destruction, and Selective Antifungal Activity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Facet‐engineered PVP‐capped CuFeSe2 nanocrystals exhibit potent, selective antifungal activity by strongly binding cell‐wall mannan, enabling vacuolar entry and organelle disruption. High‐index facets show superior mannan affinity, validated by theoretical calculations and experiments. CFS‐P induces vacuolar cavitation, mitochondrial abnormalities, and

Complexity of the virtual network embedding with uniform demands

open access: yesAnnals of Operations Research
We study the complexity of the Virtual Network Embedding Problem (VNE), which is the combinatorial core of several telecommunication problems related to the implementation of virtualization technologies, such as Network Slicing. VNE is to find an optimal assignment of virtual demands to physical resources, encompassing simultaneous placement and ...

Probabilistic Virtual Network Embedding under Demand Uncertainty

open access: yes, 2019
This thesis investigates the problem of mapping virtual networks onto physical resources where bandwidth demand is uncertain, since, in real world, traffic demands fluctuate significantly over time. Hence, we consider the problem of mapping virtual links

Sustainable Materials Design With Multi‐Modal Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Critical mineral scarcity, high embodied carbon, and persistent pollution from materials processing intensify the need for sustainable materials design. This review frames the problem as multi‐objective optimization under heterogeneous, high‐dimensional evidence and highlights multi‐modal AI as an enabling pathway.
