Bi‐Level Coordination of Demand Response and Multiple Virtual Power Plants in a Distribution Network for Flexibility Assessment

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, Volume 14, Issue 3, Page 1505-1528, March 2026.
This study presents a hierarchical coordination framework where multiple VPPs interact with the DSO to optimize energy trades and flexibility offers. Each VPP aggregates DERs and DR, performing internal optimization, day‐ahead bidding, and assessing flexibility to reduce excess renewable generation and pollution.

Positive balancing service by solar virtual power plants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
During the past years, a large amount of photovoltaic (PV) capacity has been installed in Belgium. The main driver for this was the abundant government support (GreenPower Certicates). However, during the last few years, the support for new installations

Terahertz Volume Plasmon‐Polariton Modulation in All‐Dielectric Hyperbolic Metamaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, Volume 14, Issue 7, 16 February 2026.
THz volume plasmon‐polariton (VPP) propagation through plasmon‐based hyperbolic metamaterials, made of alternating layers of doped and undoped III‐V semiconductors. Abstract The development of plasmonics and related applications in the terahertz range faces limitations due to the intrinsic high electron density of the standard metals.

Robust optimal operating strategy for photovoltaic‐storage‐load virtual power plant considering dual uncertainties of photovoltaic output and electricity prices

open access: yesEnergy Conversion and Economics, Volume 7, Issue 1, Page 17-36, February 2026.
Abstract The widespread integration of photovoltaic (PV) power, energy storage systems, and other demand‐side resources highlights the importance of optimal dispatching for the PV‐storage‐load virtual power plant (VPP). However, the fluctuation of the PV power generation and the uncertainty of the electricity prices exacerbate the economic operation ...

Enhanced Hill's Muscle Model for Tissue‐Engineered Skeletal Muscle and its Application to Reverse‐Action Tweezers Actuation

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, Volume 8, Issue 1, January 2026.
A six‐element viscoelastic model is presented for tissue‐engineered skeletal muscle, addressing the limitations of the conventional Hill's model. By introducing an active branch, the model accurately describes force responses in both elongation and isometric tests and successfully predicts the electrically induced displacement of a reverse‐action ...

Virtual Power Plant Auctions [PDF]

open access: yes
Since their advent in 2001, virtual power plant (VPP) auctions have been implemented widely. In this paper, we describe the simultaneous ascending-clock auction format that has been used for virtually all VPP auctions to date, elaborating on other design

A Data‐Driven Framework for Grid Frequency Regulation Leveraging Aggregated Flexibility of Heterogeneous Resources Considering Network Delays

open access: yesIET Energy Systems Integration, Volume 8, Issue 1, January/December 2026.
ABSTRACT The rise of large‐scale renewables has exacerbated frequency instability, revealing the limits of conventional frequency regulation frameworks in controlling deviations and incentivising fast‐acting units (FAUs). Although the mileage‐based payment framework promotes FAUs’ participation in automatic generation control (AGC) services, efficient ...
