The disappearing frame: a practice-based investigation into composing virtual environment artworks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2000
Through creative art making practice, research seeks to contribute a body of knowledge to an under researched area by examining how key concepts germane to computer based, interactive, three-dimensional, virtual environment artworks might be explicated ...

Assessing coupling coordination between human-animal-environmental health for advancing uniform progress in One Health

open access: yesOne Health
The One Health (OH) approach aims to sustainably balance and optimise the health of people, animals, and ecosystems. However, there is a lack of robustly quantified insights into its spatiotemporal coupling and coordination.

The Two-Parameter Holland Pressure Model for Tropical Cyclones

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering
In this study, we propose a two-parameter symmetric tropical cyclone (TC) pressure model, derived from the fundamental equations of the TC wind field. This model rectifies the deficits of the traditional TC pressure model mathematically.

Adaptive Observer for Coupled Wave PDE and Infinite ODE With Sampled Data and Unknown Input: Application to Brain Hemodynamics Estimation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Adaptive Control and Signal Processing, EarlyView.
This article proposes a convergent adaptive observer for a damped wave PDE and an infinite‐dimensional ODE coupled in cascade using sampled‐in‐space ODE state measurements. The proposed observer estimates the distributed states of the PDE and ODE along with unknown PDE parameters and spatial input.

Field Report from Collaborative Research Center 1625: Heterogeneous Research Data Management Using Ontology Representations

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A unified research data management framework for heterogeneous materials data is presented. The system integrates multimodal datasets using ontologies and knowledge graphs, enabling interoperability and FAIR (findable, accessible, interoperable, reusable) data principles. By linking data across scales and workflows, it supports reproducible, Artifitial

Fidelity metrics for virtual environment simulations based on spatial memory awareness states [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
This paper describes a methodology based on human judgments of memory awareness states for assessing the simulation fidelity of a virtual environment (VE) in relation to its real scene counterpart.
