Challenges in Supporting Federation of Sensor Networks [PDF]

open access: yes
Wireless sensor networks are more and more seen as a solution to large-scale tracking and monitoring applications. However, existing networks are designed to serve a single application and deliver information to one authority; typically the owner of the ...

Energy-Efficient Data Acquisition in Wireless Sensor Networks through Spatial Correlation

open access: yes, 2011
The application of Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) is restrained by their often-limited lifetime. A sensor node's lifetime is fundamentally linked to the volume of data that it senses, processes and reports. Spatial correlation between sensor nodes is an

Transducers Across Scales and Frequencies: A System‐Level Framework for Multiphysics Integration and Co‐Design

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Transducers convert physical signals into electrical and optical representations, yet each mechanism is bounded by intrinsic trade‐offs across bandwidth, sensitivity, speed, and energy. This review maps transduction mechanisms across physical scale and frequency, showing how heterogeneous integration and multiphysics co‐design transform isolated ...

Views from the coalface: chemo-sensors, sensor networks and the semantic sensor web [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Currently millions of sensors are being deployed in sensor networks across the world. These networks generate vast quantities of heterogeneous data across various levels of spatial and temporal granularity. Sensors range from single-point in situ sensors

Opportunistic direct interconnection between co-located wireless sensor networks

open access: yes, 2013
Wireless sensor networks are usually designed to avoid interaction with other networks. To share information, they are usually connected via a backbone network (e.g. the Internet) using gateways. The realization of visions for pervasive computing depends

Aluminum Oxynitride‐Engineered Transparent Aluminum Nitride Resistive Memory for Low‐Leakage Multilevel Switching in Micro‐LED Pixels

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
An AlON interfacial layer is engineered within an AlN switching layer to enable transparent RRAM with four stable resistance states. The device achieves low‐voltage multilevel switching and a high HRS, allowing precise grayscale modulation and preventing light leakage in micro‐LEDs operated at VDD = 2.7 V.

Development of Intelligent Controller with Virtual Sensing [PDF]

open access: yesITB Journal of Engineering Science, 2009
In many industrial plants, some key variables cannot always be measured on-line and for the purpose of control, an alternative of sensing system is required. This paper is concerned with a development of an alternative intelligent control strategy, which
