Epstein-Barr virus latency in vivo and in vitro

open access: yes, 2006
In this thesis, I studied 1) The latency situation of Epstein- Barr virus (EBV) in bone marrow transplanted (BMT) patients and healthy virus carriers. 2) The role of EBNA1 and cellular transcriptional factors Oct and Grg/TLE family in EBV latency switch ...

Recipient–Donor Sex Combinations and Posttransplant Infections: A Swiss Transplant Cohort Study

open access: yesTransplant Infectious Disease, EarlyView.
In this cohort study of 5033 patients, only the recipient sex, in particularly kidney recipients, was independently associated with an increased risk of infections, when compared to males. These findings indicate that recipient–donor sex combination does not influence short‐term solid organ transplantation outcome.

Effect of Epstein-Barr Virus Infection on Global Gene Expression in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma

open access: yes, 2008
It was proposed that Epstein-Barr virus (EBV) is closely associated with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC); however, the molecular mechanisms involved in the effect of EBV on NPC host genes have not yet been well defined.

Impact of delayed blood donation sample processing and testing on SARS‐CoV‐2 serological assay results in an evolving pandemic response

open access: yesTransfusion, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The two largest US blood collection organizations led a multiphased, multicenter nationwide SARS‐CoV‐2 blood donor‐based serosurveillance program. The potential impact of delayed sample processing and prolonged refrigerated or frozen storage on anti‐SARS‐CoV‐2 antibody detection was investigated.

Women in space: A review of known physiological adaptations and health perspectives

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Exposure to the spaceflight environment causes adaptations in most human physiological systems, many of which are thought to affect women differently from men. Since only 11.5% of astronauts worldwide have been female, these issues are largely understudied.
