The Physiology of Virus Diseases in Plants: V. The Movement of the Virus Agent in Tobacco and Tomato

open access: yesAnnals of Applied Biology, 1934
Summary.Experiments on the movement of the virus of aucuba or yellow mosaic of the tomato in the host plant are described. It has been found that the presence of the virus in the tissues is not always associated with symptoms, and that the symptoms appear in those tissues which have developed after infection.

The E3 ligase HRD1 enhances plant antiviral immunity by targeting viral movement proteins

open access: yesCell Reports
Summary: The ubiquitin-26S proteasome system (UPS) is a conserved protein degradation process involved in plant growth and immunity. However, whether some UPS E3 ligases directly target plant viruses in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) remains less ...

Nanomaterial Strategies for Pulmonary Delivery of Immunotherapeutics in Lung Cancer Treatment

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Inhalable immunotherapeutic nanomedicines enable organ‐selective immune modulation by overcoming pulmonary delivery barriers and concentrating therapy within lung tumors. This Review defines how nanomaterial properties govern airway deposition, retention, cellular partitioning, and immune activation across vaccines, checkpoint blockade, STING agonists,

Making the Case for Organ‐on‐Chip Platforms in Long‐Acting Therapeutics Development

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
LATs release drug from a tissue‐resident depot over weeks to months, improving adherence, but their development is hampered by preclinical models that cannot reproduce the coupled tissue processes, sustained release, local microenvironment change, interstitial transport, immune and foreign‐body responses, and clearance that govern depot performance in ...

Kelvin Probe Force Microscopy in Bionanotechnology: Current Advances and Future Perspectives

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Kelvin probe force microscopy (KPFM) enables the nanoscale mapping of electrostatic surface potentials. While widely applied in materials science, its use in biological systems remains emerging. This review presents recent advances in KPFM applied to biological samples and provides a critical perspective on current limitations and future directions for

Mechanism‐Driven Nanoformulations for Cognitive Impairment Induced by Intermittent Hypoxia and Periodontitis

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Clinically, intermittent hypoxia (IH) is often accompanied by periodontitis, which accelerates cognitive impairment induced by IH. Novel Janus mesoporous gold‐silica nanoformulations (RVG‐Au&mSiO2‐TPP‐VB) enable intranasal delivery, achieve hierarchical targeting to neuronal mitochondria, effectively scavenge reactive oxygen species, inhibit the HIF‐1α/

Resolving Heterogeneity of Targeted Lipid Nanoparticles Through Solution‐Based Biophysical Analyses

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
AF4‐UV‐DLS‐MALS‐SAXS resolves previously inaccessible targeted lipid nanoparticle (tLNP) subpopulations that differ in size, shape, and composition. Correlation of subpopulation‐resolved biophysical properties with in vivo RNA delivery reveals that targeted placental transfection is associated with distinct tLNP subpopulations rather than ensemble ...
