Detection and quantification of Tomato mosaic virus in irrigation waters [PDF]

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Plant Pathology, 2007
A quantitative RT real-time PCR method was developed for the detection and quantification of Tomato mosaic virus (ToMV) in irrigation waters. These have rarely been monitored for the presence of plant pathogenic viruses, mostly due to the lack of efficient and sensitive detection methods.

Determination of ADP/ATP translocase isoform ratios in malignancy and cellular senescence

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
The individual functions of three isoforms exchanging ADP and ATP (ADP/ATP translocases; ANTs) on the mitochondrial membrane remain unclear. We developed a method for quantitatively differentiating highly similar human ANT1, ANT2, and ANT3 using parallel reaction monitoring. This method allowed us to assess changes in translocase levels during cellular

Absolute quantification of viruses by TaqMan real-time RT-PCR in grapevines

open access: yesCiência Rural
: The absolute quantification determines the absolute amount of a targeted nucleic acid expressed as a copy number or concentration. The knowledge of virus concentrations in commercial crops possesses high relevance to ensure a reliable diagnosis.

A nucleotide‐independent, pan‐RAS‐targeted DARPin elicits anti‐tumor activity in a multimodal manner

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We report a Designed Ankyrin Repeat Protein that binds and inhibits RAS proteins, which serve as central cell signaling hubs and are essential for the progression of many cancers. Its unique feature is that it does not discriminate between different RAS isoforms or mutations and is capable of binding to RAS in both its active (GTP‐bound) and inactive ...

Rabies screen reveals GPe control of cocaine-triggered plasticity. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Identification of neural circuit changes that contribute to behavioural plasticity has routinely been conducted on candidate circuits that were preselected on the basis of previous results.

BMP antagonist CHRDL2 enhances the cancer stem‐cell phenotype and increases chemotherapy resistance in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Overexpression of CHRDL2 in colon cancer cells makes them more stem‐like and resistant to chemo‐ and radiotherapy. CHRDL2‐high cells have upregulation of the WNT pathway, genes involved in the DNA damage response (DDR) pathway and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT). This leads to quicker repair of damaged DNA and more cell migration.

De Novo synthesis of VP16 coordinates the exit from HSV latency in vivo [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The mechanism controlling the exit from herpes simplex virus latency (HSV) is of central importance to recurrent disease and transmission of infection, yet interactions between host and viral functions that govern this process remain unclear. The cascade

Spatial quantification of the world population potentially exposed to Zika virus.

open access: yesInternational Journal of Epidemiology, 2017
Background Zika virus is an emerging Flaviviridae virus, which has spread rapidly in the last few years. It has raised concern because it has been associated with fetus microcephaly when pregnant women are infected.

Quantification of Virus Suspensions by Direct Particle Counting [PDF]

open access: yesMicroscopy Today, 2006
Abstract In science, there are occasions when it is of value to know the number and distribution of different types of particles present in a solution. Calculation of these values is simplified if you can uniformly distribute the number of particles in a known volume over an established surface area.
