Association Between Visceral Adiposity Index and Metabolic Syndrome and Its Components: Evidence From the PERSIAN Guilan Cohort Study. [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinol Diabetes Metab
In 10,520 adults from the PERSIAN Guilan Cohort, higher Visceral Adiposity Index was strongly associated with metabolic syndrome, particularly in women, and demonstrated good discriminatory ability (AUC 0.84). Sex‐specific VAI cut‐offs may help identify individuals at increased metabolic risk.

Short Sleep Duration Is Positively Associated With Traditional and Non-Traditional Markers of Adiposity and Cardiometabolic Risk in Individuals at Secondary Healthcare: A Cross-Sectional Study. [PDF]

open access: yesFASEB J
This cross‐sectional study involving 937 adults at high cardiovascular risk found a positive association between short sleep duration (< 7 h/night) and traditional and non‐traditional markers of adiposity (abdominal obesity, overweight, and high visceral adiposity index [VAI]), a non‐traditional marker of glucose metabolism disruption (high ...

Visceral Adiposity Index Is a Measure of the Likelihood of Developing Depression Among Adults in the United States

open access: yesFrontiers in Psychology, 2022
BackgroundDepression is a serious mental disorder often accompanied by emotional and physiological disorders. Visceral fat index (VAI) is the current standard method in the evaluation of visceral fat deposition. In this study, we explored the association

Association of Selected Anthropometric Indices With Diabetic Kidney Disease Among Iranian Adults With Diabetes. [PDF]

open access: yesEndocrinol Diabetes Metab
Selected anthropometric indices showed independent associations with diabetic kidney disease in Iranian adults with diabetes, but only moderate discriminatory ability, supporting their use as adjunctive markers rather than standalone diagnostic tools.

Association of visceral adiposity index (VAI) with prognosis in patients with metabolic syndrome and heart failure with reduced ejection fraction [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Cardiovascular Disorders
Background Visceral Adiposity Index (VAI) is an effective predictor of metabolic syndrome (MetS) and serves as a marker of visceral adiposity. The association between the VAI index and poor prognosis in patients with MetS and Heart failure with reduced ...

Association between visceral adiposity indices and retinal microvascular parameters stratified by urinary protein status [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology
Background Visceral fat accumulation is a well-established risk factor for both cardiovascular and microvascular diseases. The lipid accumulation product (LAP), visceral adiposity index (VAI), and Chinese visceral adiposity index (CVAI) are recognized ...
