Vacuum Infusion as a Processing Route for Transparent Wood Laminates

open access: yesPolymer Composites, Volume 47, Issue 17, Page 15441-15455, 10 September 2026.
Schematic representation of the fabrication route for transparent wood laminates, including wood veneer delignification, epoxy resin impregnation by vacuum infusion processing, and the final TW‐1 transparent wood laminate. ABSTRACT Transparent wood (TW) has attracted increasing attention as a bio‐based material for daylighting and building‐envelope ...

The Impact of S‐220–Loaded Silk Hydrogels on In Vitro Neurite Outgrowth in 2 and 3 Dimensions

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, Volume 10, Issue 9, September 2026.
Postnatal cortical neurons were cultured on or within 1% Bombyx mori silk hydrogel to assess neurite outgrowth in 2D and 3D. S‐220 was delivered either through the culture medium or directly within the hydrogel. Silk hydrogel supported cortical neuron culture, S‐220 in the medium enhanced neurite outgrowth, and 3D culture promoted multidirectional ...

Design and Characterization of a Two‐Dimensional Soft Array Based on Cooperative Dielectric Elastomer Actuators

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 74, 14 September 2026.
A fully polymeric two‐dimensional array of Dielectric Elastomers enables self‐sensing, cooperative actuation, and large‐stroke operation in a DE‐based autonomous conveyor. Based only on voltage and current measurements at actuator level, the system detects the presence of a ball and subsequently drives it toward a target position.

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, Volume 15, Issue 35, 18 September 2026.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...
