Birefringence in viscoelastic materials

Zeitschrift für angewandte Mathematik und Physik ZAMP, 1971
In a previous paper [1] the theory of stress birefringence in elastic materials subject to finite deformations was considered. This theory was based on the constitutive assumption that in such materials the dielectric constant and specific reluctance tensors at time t depend only on the deformation gradients at time t.

Viscoelastic Materials

2009
Understanding viscoelasticity is pertinent to design applications as diverse as earplugs, gaskets, computer disks, satellite stability, medical diagnosis, injury prevention, vibration abatement, tire performance, sports, spacecraft explosions, and music. This book fits a one-semester graduate course on the properties, analysis, and uses of viscoelastic

Standard viscoelastic material

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1993
Whereas the moduli of elastic solids and the viscosities of simple molecular liquids are well-defined, such that many can be used as standards, the same is not true of viscoelastic materials. The properties of the latter are by definition both frequency and temperature dependent.

Shock Structure in Viscoelastic Materials

IMA Journal of Applied Mathematics, 1988
Summary: An analysis of steady, one-dimensional wave propagation in viscoelastic materials is carried out by using a model of material response that is general enough to incorporate the observed relaxation behaviour and nonlinearity of response of real materials, while simple enough to facilitate rigorous analytical proofs and numerical computations ...

Viscoelastic materials in veterinary ophthalmology

Veterinary Ophthalmology, 1999
Viscoelastic materials have applications in both human and veterinary ophthalmology and orthopedics and for humans in otorhinolaryngology, urinary incontinence, cosmetic surgery and cosmetics. In ophthalmology, viscoelasties are most commonly used in facilitating cataract and other anterior segment surgeries, but also have applications in posterior ...

Inflammatory Response to Viscoelastic Materials

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1987
ABSTRACT Healon®, Amvisc®, or Viscoat® was injected into the corneal stroma of 36 normal rabbit eyes. Twelve additional rabbit eyes were used as controls by performing a sham procedure. Twelve rabbits were euthanized at one day and the remainder seven days after injection. The eyes were enucleated and examined by light microscopy.
