Bioinspired Hydrogels with Broadly Programmable Mechanics for Soft‐Tissue Interfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Sea cucumber‐inspired gelatin hydrogels are formed by directional freezing and mechanically programmed through subsequent ionic treatment. Multiscale characterization and modeling link ion‐regulated chain interactions to directional load transfer within the aligned hierarchical architecture.

Characterization of the viscoelastic property of asphalt mastic

open access: yes, 2011
The mechanical performance of asphalt mixture is highly dependent on the viscoelastic property of asphalt mastic, which is usually composed of asphalt binder and fine aggregates with sizes smaller than 2.36 mm. The viscoelastic property of asphalt mastic

Local measurements of viscoelastic moduli of entangled actin networks using an oscillating magnetic bead micro-rheometer [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
A magnetically driven bead micro-rheometer for local quantitative measurements of the viscoelastic moduli in soft macromolecular networks such as an entangled F-actin solution is described.

Biodegradable 3D‐Printable and Coatable Antifouling Composites for Marine Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Marine biofouling damages submerged surfaces and raises greenhouse gas emissions. Biodegradable antifouling biocomposites were developed by hot‐mixing beeswax, Tween 80, and calcium stearate or stearic acid. Adjusting the component ratio enables processing via hot‐pressing, 3D‐printing, or dip‐coating.

Mechanics of Telson Ridges in Mantis Shrimp for Impact Analysis and Implications for Bioinspired Elastic Shell Designs

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The mantis shrimp telson reveals how ridged biological shields control deformation under impact. Inspired by this architecture, telson‐inspired ridged curved shells transform ridge geometry and macroscopic curvature into bidirectional snap‐through, tunable stiffness, and enhanced hysteretic energy dissipation for multifunctional architected materials ...

XTRUDE: A Process‐Informed Framework for High‐Fidelity Analysis of Hydrogel Extrusion

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Extrusion performance emerges from the interplay between material properties and processing conditions. XTRUDE (eXTrusion Rheology for Understanding and Defining Extrudability) recreates the extrusion environment with in situ pressure and temperature sensing, enabling characteristic pressure signatures to quantify extrusion‐specific phenomena and ...

Electroosmotic Flow of Viscoelastic Fluid in a Nanoslit

open access: yesMicromachines, 2018
The electroosmotic flow (EOF) of viscoelastic fluid in a long nanoslit is numerically studied to investigate the rheological property effect of Linear Phan-Thien-Tanner (LPTT) fluid on the fully developed EOF.

The dynamics of New Zealand commercial property portfolios

open access: yes, 2005
The dynamics of commercial property portfolio peljormance in New Zealand have changed considerably in recent years, with most of these dynamics working in favour of commercial property in an investment portfolio.
