Reduced Viscosity in Thin Polymer Films
Physical Review Letters, 2006The dewetting of thin polystyrene films (20-500 nm) on a liquid substrate is studied at time scales that are long compared to the reptation time. It is shown that the kinetics correspond to those of purely viscous flow and that the viscosity measured by this technique is, for the thickest films, consistent with bulk measurements.

Reducing blood viscosity with magnetic fields
Physical Review E, 2011Blood viscosity is a major factor in heart disease. When blood viscosity increases, it damages blood vessels and increases the risk of heart attacks. Currently, the only method of treatment is to take drugs such as aspirin, which has, however, several unwanted side effects.

Reducing the effect of impurity content of the caustic on the viscosity of viscose
Fibre Chemistry, 1990Reducing fluctuations in impurity concentration in the caustic to low-frequency disturbances makes it possible to reduce their effect on the viscosity of viscose. To reduce fluctuations in impurity concentration to a low frequency, it is necessary to introduce continuous schemes for the preparation of alkali with automatic regulation or separate ...

Multifunctional Nanocomposites with Reduced Viscosity
Macromolecules, 2007It is demonstrated that nanocomposites exhibiting reduced viscosity and multifunctional performance enhancements may be fabricated using simple processing procedures. These behaviors are elucidated by analysis of the effects of dispersed organic (fullerene) nanoparticles and inorganic (magnetite) nanoparticles on the behavior of polystyrene ...

Application of Emulsion Viscosity Reducers to Lower Produced Fluid Viscosity
OTC Brasil, 2011Abstract One of the major costs in crude oil production is lifting fluids to the surface for processing. During the lifting process the produced fluid composed of brine and crude oil encounters high shears and pressure drops caused by flowing through electrical submersible pumps or other forms of impingement and ...

Streptokinase and reduced plasma viscosity: A second benefit
European Journal of Haematology, 1988The purpose of this pilot study on a small cohort of patients (n = 13) with acute myocardial infarction receiving systemic streptokinase (STK) thrombolytic therapy was to measure the decrease in plasma viscosity concomitant with fibrinogen depletion. The treatment group was compared with a similar control group not given thrombolytic therapy.

REDUCING THE VISCOSITY OF DIESEL FUEL WITH ELECTROREHOLOGICAL EFFECT
Electro-Rheological Fluids and Magneto-Rheological Suspensions, 2011Improving engine efficiency and reducing pollutant emissions are extremely important. Here the authors report their finding, using electrorheology to reduce the viscosity of diesel fuel. Diesel is made of many different molecules, 75% small molecules and 25% large molecules. In addition, it contains other nanoscale particles, such as sulfur. Therefore,

THE PHYSICAL MECHANISM TO REDUCE VISCOSITY OF LIQUID SUSPENSIONS
International Journal of Modern Physics B, 2007Reducing the viscosity of liquid suspensions is vital in science and engineering. This paper explores the physical mechanism for the viscosity reduction method in liquid suspension by pulsed electric or magnetic field. The key is that the maximum volume fraction to be available for the suspended particles in the suspension increases with the particle ...
