Effect of Changes in the Concentrations of Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate, and Citric Acid on the Surface Tension and Viscosity of Solutions of Certain Polymers

open access: yesAl-Mustansiriyah Journal of Science
Background: The polymer’s improved properties enable its application in numerous fields. Different concentrations of sodium chloride (NaCl), citric acid (C6H8O7), and sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) were added to aqueous solutions of the following polymers:

High‐Concentration Mesogen‐Assisted Exfoliation of Low‐Dimensional Nanomaterials for Achieving Ultralow‐Temperature Actuations of Liquid Crystal Elastomers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Most matter is nominally frozen in the polar regions or space, and liquid crystal materials are no exception. Consequently, soft actuators, including liquid crystal elastomers (LCEs), are inoperative under such extreme cold in response to stimuli, as their motion relies on mechanical deformation.

Substrate Stress Relaxation Regulates Cell‐Mediated Assembly of Extracellular Matrix

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone‐based viscoelastic substrates with tunable stress relaxation reveal how matrix mechanics regulates cellular mechanosensing and cell‐mediated matrix remodelling in the stiff regime. High stress relaxation promotes assembly of fibronectin fibril‐like structures, increased nuclear localization of YAP and formation of β1 integrin‐enriched ...

Viscosity of silicate solutions

open access: yesLangmuir, 1993
High precision viscosity measurements of electrolyte solns. were used to obtain information about interionic interactions. In solns. of Me4N+ (TMA) silicates values for the A and D coeff. in the Jones-Dole equation are significantly higher than for Na and K silicate solns. Ion assocn. between cations and anions in the silicate solns.

Composites of Shellac and Silver Nanowires as Flexible, Biobased, and Corrosion‐Resistant Transparent Conductive Electrodes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Shellac, a centuries‐old natural resin, is reimagined as a green material for flexible electronics. When combined with silver nanowires, shellac films deliver transparency, conductivity, and stability against humidity. These results position shellac as a sustainable alternative to synthetic polymers for transparent conductors in next‐generation ...

On viscosity and weak solutions for non-homogeneous p-Laplace equations

open access: yesAdvances in Nonlinear Analysis, 2017
In this manuscript, we study the relation between viscosity and weak solutions for non-homogeneous p-Laplace equations with lower-order term depending on x, u and ∇⁡u{\nabla u}.

Enzyme‐Regulated Extended Swelling of Hydrogels for Dehiscence‐Less Tissue Expansions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
An interpenetrating hydrogel network with swelling under regulation by enzymatic degradation (INSURED) is fabricated to avoid dehiscence. INSURED remains structurally intact post‐implantation, while HYAL injection enables control over the onset and rate of swelling.
