ON THE MECHANISM OF THE FORMATION OF MAGNETOHYDRODYNAMIC VORTICES IN THE SOLAR PLASMA

open access: yesOdessa Astronomical Publications, 2016
Based on the magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) equations for an incompressible conductive viscous fluid, the possible mechanism of the formation of giant MHD vortices recently discovered in the solar atmosphere (chromosphere) is analyzed.

A Systematic Study of GelMA‐Carbopol Bioinks for High‐Fidelity Extrusion 3D Bioprinting at Physiological Temperatures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Gonzalez Martinez and collaborators develop a strategy to formulate high performance GelMA‐based bioinks with low solids contents. The resulting bioinks enable 3D bioprinting at 37 °C of high‐fidelity structures with tunable mechanical properties that support high cell viability and function.

Energy dissipation in circular tube

open access: yesИнженерно-строительный журнал, 2012
Energy dissipation distribution along the circular tube radius is important in solving such problems as calculation of heat transfer by the air flow through building envelope; calculation of pressure loss in spiral flows; calculation of cyclones with ...

Heat transfer of a hybrid nanofluid past a circular cylinder in the presence of thermal radiation and viscous dissipation

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2020
The effects of thermal radiation and viscous dissipation on the flow and heat transfer of a hybrid nanofluid (Cu–Al2O3/water) past a circular cylinder are investigated for both assisting and opposing flows.

On vortex/wave interactions. Part 1. Non-symmetrical input and cross-flow in boundary layers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
The paper studies certain effects of non-symmetry on vortex/wave interactions, for inviscid inflexional waves interacting nonlinearly with the vortex component of the mean flow in boundary-layer transition at large Reynolds number.

Targeting CD300a Signaling With a Phosphatidylserine‐Presenting Hydrogel Rescues Macrophage Dysfunction and Accelerates Diabetic Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Schematic illustration of the proposed mechanism: PEG/RGD‐PSLs mimic apoptotic cells to engage PS receptors (notably CD300a), transducing an inhibitory signal that suppresses the MyD88/NF‐κB pathway, leading to global anti‐inflammatory and pro‐reparative effects.

Fast relaxation of a viscous vortex in an external flow

open access: yesNonlinearity
Abstract We study the evolution of a concentrated vortex advected by a smooth, divergence-free velocity field in two space dimensions. In the idealised situation where the initial vorticity is a Dirac mass, we compute an approximation of the solution which accurately describes, in the regime of high Reynolds numbers, the motion of the

A Hybrid Bioprinting–Microfabrication Approach to Controllable Multitype Spheroid Arrays for Modeling Tumor Heterogeneity

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work introduces a “cancer‐in‐a‐well” technology that recreates tumor heterogeneity in vitro using multitype spheroid arrays. Combining bioprinting/microdispensing with microstructured culture devices, the system improves drug screening and modeling of tumor complexity.

The stochastic vortex simulation of an unsteady viscous flow in a multiconnected domain [PDF]

open access: yesESAIM: Proceedings, 1996
Summary: Vortex methods applied to flows in multiconnected domains are studied. The objective is to construct a vortex method which eliminates the possibility of non-physical solutions in the pressure fields calculated a posteriori from the velocity and vorticity fields. Application is made to the case of an annular domain.

Azobenzene's Cross‐Scale Optics and Photonics: Molecular Photoswitching, Mesoscopic Material Motions, and Adaptive Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Azobenzene photoswitches translate molecular‐scale E/Z photoisomerization into macroscopic material responses and device‐level photonic functions. This Review highlights how azobenzene research has evolved from molecular photochemistry to photoalignment, mass migration, photomechanics, and heat release, ultimately enabling holography, reconfigurable ...
