Mitigating Efficiency Roll‐Off in Phosphor‐Sensitized Fluorescence OLEDs via Molecular Polarity‐Based Benzofuropyridine Host Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Positional isomerism in dibenzofuran‐based n‐type hosts modulates molecular polarity, charge‐transport balance, and emissive‐layer packing. The higher‐polarity BFPDB‐2 host facilitates efficient energy funneling, reduced aggregation, and preferential dipole orientation, leading to phosphor‐sensitized fluorescence OLEDs with enhanced external quantum ...

Direct Measurement of the Singlet Lifetime and Photoexcitation Behavior of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...

Using Equalizers to Increase Data Rates in Organic Photonic Devices for Visible Light Communications Systems

open access: yes, 2014
This thesis proposes to marry two separate technologies together. The first technology is that of visible light communications (VLC), and the second is small molecule and polymer organic photonic devices.

Revealing the Transmission Hologram's Refractive Index Profile Stored in a Photohydrogel: A Structural Characterization

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A theoretical model is developed to visualize three‐dimensional refractive index profiles in transmission holographic gratings. In this work, it is applied to photopolymerizable hydrogels, enabling detailed analysis of the internal structure of recorded holograms and their evolution under different degradation conditions.

3-Gbit/s Indoor Visible Light Communications Using Optical Diversity Schemes

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
A 3-Gb/s high-speed indoor visible light communication system using optical diversity schemes is presented. A double optical diversity (DOD) scheme in time and frequency is employed with selection combining (SC) on the basis of red, green, and blue (RGB)

Color-Shift-Keying Embedded Direct-Current Optical-Orthogonal-Frequency-Division-Multiplexing (CSK-DCO-OFDM) for Visible Light Communications (VLC)

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
We propose and experimentally demonstrate a color-shift-keying embedded direct-current-optical-orthogonal-frequency-division-multiplexing (CSK-DCO-OFDM) scheme for the VLC systems.

Naphthyridine‐Based Donor–Acceptor Boron Difluoride Complexes Targeting Red Emission in Organic Light‐Emitting Diodes

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Four donor–acceptor boron difluoride complexes based on triphenylamine donor and a naphthyridine acceptor units were synthesized, studied, and applied as OLED emitters. They exhibit pronounced intramolecular charge transfer character, balanced charge transport properties, and tunable emission. Near‐unity PLQYs are achieved for selected compounds, while

Visible light communications: multi-band super-Nyquist CAP modulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
In this paper, we experimentally demonstrate the performance of a non-orthogonal multi-band super-Nyquist carrier-less amplitude and phase (m-SCAP) modulation for visible light communications (VLC).
