, 2023 [EN] This chapter evaluates the use (or not) of Roman identities and institutions in Visigothic hagiography. Visigothic hagiographical materials display a telling absence of ‘Romanness’, understood as a collective or individual consciousness of belonging to a Roman cultural tradition.
