Towards Vision-Based Smart Hospitals: A System for Tracking and Monitoring Hand Hygiene Compliance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
One in twenty-five patients admitted to a hospital will suffer from a hospital acquired infection. If we can intelligently track healthcare staff, patients, and visitors, we can better understand the sources of such infections.

Grafting Vision Transformers

open access: yes2024 IEEE/CVF Winter Conference on Applications of Computer Vision (WACV)
Vision Transformers (ViTs) have recently become the state-of-the-art across many computer vision tasks. In contrast to convolutional networks (CNNs), ViTs enable global information sharing even within shallow layers of a network, i.e., among high-resolution features. However, this perk was later overlooked with the success of pyramid architectures such

Artifact‐Minimizing Ultrathin Transparent Electrodes Fabricated via iCVD for In Vivo Optogenetic Stimulation and Neural Signal Monitoring of Primary Visual Cortex

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
We present ultrathin flexible transparent electrodes through iCVD‐enabled molecular control of 10 nm gold films on poly(dimethylaminomethylstyrene). In vivo validation demonstrated photoelectric artifact reduction vs. opaque electrodes and preservation of natural neural dynamics.

A Sensorimotor Vision Transformer

open access: yesCoRR
This paper presents the Sensorimotor Transformer (SMT), a vision model inspired by human saccadic eye movements that prioritize high-saliency regions in visual input to enhance computational efficiency and reduce memory consumption. Unlike traditional models that process all image patches uniformly, SMT identifies and selects the most salient patches ...

Engineering Hydrogen‐Down Water Configurations for Ampere‐Level Electrochemical CO2 Reduction to Formate

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electrochemical CO2 reduction (ECR) to formate is a promising route for sustainable chemical production. Herein, we report the synthesis catalysed byBi‐HfO2@C. The AIMD simulations, DFT calculations, and in situ SEIRAS measurements show that the modification of HfO2 on the Bi surface steers the interfacial water to adopt a favorable hydrogen‐down (OH2↓)
