Phonological Features Mediate Object-Label Retrieval and Word Recognition in the Visual World Paradigm

open access: yes, 2015
While there are numerous studies that investigate the amount of phonological detail associated with toddlers’ lexical representations of words and their sensitivity to mispronunciations of these words, research has only recently begun to address the ...

Submicron Metasurface Reconfigured Multiband Smart Windows

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents a submicron metasurface reconfigured multiband thermochromic smart window. By integrating subwavelength nanostructures into a Fabry−Perot resonator configuration, it mitigates conventional trade‐offs to simultaneously deliver high luminous transmittance and robust solar heating and radiative cooling modulation capabilities ...

Shaping Matter with Acoustic Waves: From Particles to Functional Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Acoustic‐directed assembly is reviewed as a materials‐oriented strategy for organizing particles, polymers, metals, and biological systems into functional structures. The review distinguishes reversible manipulation from permanent structure formation through medium fixation, particle fixation, and in situ material generation, highlighting routes toward

Clusterization‐Triggered Emission from Cellulose‐Based Luminophores in Dilute Aqueous Solution through Imine Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Clusterization‐triggered emission is realized in dilute aqueous solution by introducing imine linkages into cellulose‐based luminophores. Imine functionalization creates O/N‐rich, hydrogen‐bonded clustered microenvironments that stabilize emissive states and restrict molecular motions. Luminescence is tunable by amine type and multiplicity.

The Relationship of Word and Picture in Doležal´s Tragedy) [PDF]

open access: yesSlovenska Literatura, 2010
The authors in the 18th century created platform for a reader to interact in the sphere of visual conceptions. A good example of it is an epic composition of Augustín Doležal Pamětná celému světu Tragoedia (The Tragedy, Remembered by the Entire World ...

Mimicking Silent Synapse Recruitment: A SiOx/Cu‐Pancake Memristive Device For Analog Neuromorphic Computing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Electroforming‐free TiN/SiOx/Cu/SiOx/TiN memristive devices exploit pancake‐like Cu nanoparticles embedded in a SiOx double layer to create a heterogeneous Schottky‐barrier landscape. Under bias, oxygen‐vacancy redistribution progressively lowers local barriers and recruits initially inactive Cu‐PC pathways into a parallel conduction ensemble, enabling

Translational Considerations for Injectable Biomaterials and Bioscaffolds to Repair and Regenerate Brain Tissue

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The repair and regeneration of brain tissue faces both biological and technical challenges. Injectable bioscaffolds offer new opportunities to stimulate tissue regrowth in the brain by recruiting neural stem cells. Here, the translational issues are reviewed that need to be address to advance this promising new therapeutic approach from the bench to ...

The effect of iconic gestures on linguistic prediction in Mandarin Chinese: a visual world paradigm study

open access: yes, 2023
Language is multimodal in nature, and multimodal cues like iconic gestures contain semantic information that can be useful for language comprehension. In fact, prior corpus analyses have shown that iconic gestures tend to precede their lexical affiliates

A Long‐Lived Human Neurovascular PENTA Culture Model Captures Incomplete Vascular Repair and Glia‐Associated Signaling After Traumatic Brain Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A long‐lived, five‐cell‐type human neurovascular (PENTA) model recreates vascular disorganization and incomplete repair after traumatic brain injury (TBI). By integrating endothelial, glial, neuronal, and immune components within a 3D scaffold, the platform enables time‐resolved analysis of neurovascular remodeling and provides a human‐relevant system ...
