MYCN Amplification in RB1‐Inactivated Retinoblastoma: Association With High‐Risk Features

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background MYCN amplification occurs in a subset of retinoblastoma cases, both with and without RB1 inactivation. It has been suggested that retinoblastomas with MYCN amplification represent a distinct entity with more aggressive clinical behavior.

HEM: An Improved Parametric Link Prediction Algorithm Based on Hybrid Network Evolution Mechanism

open access: yesEntropy, 2023
Link prediction plays an important role in the research of complex networks. Its task is to predict missing links or possible new links in the future via existing information in the network.

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Explaining neural networks for detection of tropical cyclones and atmospheric rivers in gridded atmospheric simulation data [PDF]

open access: yesGeoscientific Model Development
Detection of atmospheric features in gridded datasets from numerical simulation models is typically done by means of rule-based algorithms. Recently, the feasibility of learning feature detection tasks using supervised learning with convolutional neural ...

Analysis of Visual Mascot Cimahi City with a Semiotic Approach C.S. Pierce [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
The city mascot as one of the supporting elements in the effort to improve the image of cities in Indonesia still leaves a lot of land for research. The research on the visual mascot of the city of Cimahi departs from a search effort on the mascot of the

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

A new low‐complexity patch‐based image super‐resolution

open access: yesIET Computer Vision, 2017
In this study, a novel single image super‐resolution (SR) method, which uses a generated dictionary from pairs of high‐resolution (HR) images and their corresponding low‐resolution (LR) representations, is proposed.

Visual Analysis Of Children Books Illustration As a Psychiatric Therapy [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
One of the most acute urban problems is the emergence of psychiatric problems caused by the acceleration of daily routine. These psychiatric problems not only suffered by adults, but also children. These children generally have a problem called B.L.A.S.T.

An Analysis of Visual Question Answering Algorithms

open access: yes, 2017
In visual question answering (VQA), an algorithm must answer text-based questions about images. While multiple datasets for VQA have been created since late 2014, they all have flaws in both their content and the way algorithms are evaluated on them.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).
