Geometrical haptic illusions revisited: Haptic illusions compared with visual illusions [PDF]
Révész (1934) reported that haptic illusions were observed in almost all of the geometrical optical illusion figures. The present study reexamined seven geometrical illusions in both haptic and visual modes. In the Müller-Lyer, Ponzo, and vertical-horizontal figures, haptic illusions equivalent to the visual illusions were observed.

Abstract Hadrosaurid dinosaurs are generally regarded as “crested” or “non‐crested” depending on the presence or absence of a bony cranial crest. At least one supposedly “non‐crested” hadrosaur is known to have possessed a soft tissue cranial crest (or comb), based on an exceptionally preserved “mummified” specimen. Here we redescribe this specimen and

THE phenomenon referred to by Mr. Turner and by Prof. Boycott in NATURE of October 7 and 14, pp. 180 and 213, was described by Aristotle in his treatise on dreams (“Parva Naturalia”) thus: “Also, the senses are affected in this way when we turn quickly from; objects in motion, e.g. from looking at a river, and especially from looking at swiftly flowing

Spatial Alignment and Response Hand in Geometric and Motion Illusions
Perception of visual illusions is susceptible to manipulation of their spatial properties. Further, illusions can sometimes affect visually guided actions, especially the movement planning phase.

Abstract Three‐dimensional visualization technologies (3DVTs) in anatomy education are popular as they offer a cost‐effective and accessible alternative to cadaveric specimens. However, the literature presents conflicting results regarding the effectiveness of 3DVTs in facilitating learning compared with traditional models.

Speech and non-speech audio-visual illusions: a developmental study. [PDF]
It is well known that simultaneous presentation of incongruent audio and visual stimuli can lead to illusory percepts. Recent data suggest that distinct processes underlie non-specific intersensory speech as opposed to non-speech perception. However, the

Abstract All children should have access to quality education through a child‐centred pedagogy. An inclusive, child‐centred pedagogy uses a strength‐based view of children that recognises each child as unique and competent, providing children with multiple opportunities to explore and learn at their own pace.

Influence of duration and visual feedback on the perception of tactile illusions of motion
Tactile illusions manifest when the perceived sensation does not align with the actual tactile stimulation. Phantom motion and cutaneous rabbit are two illusions that convey motion and direction information using only a pair of actuators, which results ...

Scintillating Starbursts: Concentric Star Polygons Induce Illusory Ray Patterns
Here, we introduce and explore Scintillating Starbursts , a stimulus type made up of concentric star polygons that induce illusory scintillating rays or beams.

Abstract Academic misconduct appeal services have quietly emerged within China's education marketplace, with commercial agencies promoting themselves on social media to assist international students facing misconduct hearings. While existing research on academic integrity has emphasized prevention and detection, far less attention has been paid to what
