Due to the present conditions and living in a complex environment that generates and receipts information, the human being should have a wide range of tools, which allows him/her to suitably percept and process information. By using mental mechanisms for processing information and having specific functions, the human being may analyse and synthesize ...

Saccadic Corollary Discharge Underlies Stable Visual Perception
Saccadic eye movements direct the high-resolution foveae of our retinas toward objects of interest. With each saccade, the image jumps on the retina, causing a discontinuity in visual input. Our visual perception, however, remains stable.

Near‐Field Phonon Nanoscopy and Imaging of Structural Variants in Mixed Phase BiFeO3
Nano‐Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and scattering scanning near‐field optical microscopy imaging reveal the phonon response of nanoscale phase variants in mixed‐phase BiFeO3 (BFO). Direct mid‐infrared imaging of associated distinct vibrational signatures is used as a non‐invasive optical detection method for electrical switching of ...

Some informational aspects of visual perception.
xThe ideas of information theory are at present stimulating many different areas of psychological inquiry. In providing techniques for quantifying situations which have hitherto been difficult or impossible to quantify, they suggest new and more precise ...

Tunable Tactile Synapses Enabled by Erasable Doping in Iongel‐Gated Nanotube Network Transistors
Artificial tactile synaptic sensors are realized by an iongel‐gated single‐walled carbon nanotube (SWCNT) transistor with reversible doping characteristics. The device senses and memorizes tactile stimuli and exhibits gate bias‐dependent excitatory or inhibitory synaptic behavior.

Reading is known to be primarily a linguistic task. However, to successfully decode written words, children also need to develop good visual-perception skills. Furthermore, motor skills are implicated in letter recognition and reading acquisition.

Sensation and perception [PDF]
One of the oldest and most difficult questions in science is how we are able to develop an awareness of the world around us from our senses. Topics covered under the title of, 'Sensation and perception' address this very question.

Visual Semantic Information Pursuit: A Survey [PDF]
Visual semantic information comprises two important parts: the meaning of each visual semantic unit and the coherent visual semantic relation conveyed by these visual semantic units. Essentially, the former one is a visual perception task while the latter one corresponds to visual context reasoning.

Carbon Nanotube 3D Integrated Circuits: From Design to Applications
As Moore's law approaches its physical limits, carbon nanotube (CNT) 3D integrated circuits (ICs) emerge as a promising alternative due to the miniaturization, high mobility, and low power consumption. CNT 3D ICs in optoelectronics, memory, and monolithic ICs are reviewed while addressing challenges in fabrication, design, and integration.
