Visual quality in stereoscopic 3DTV

2012 Conference Record of the Forty Sixth Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers (ASILOMAR), 2012
Georgia Tech has an ongoing research program in multimedia communications, including visual quality assessment in 3DTV. As part of our 3D related research, we have studied the response of the human visual system to compressed 3D sequences and compared the visibility of artifacts in 3D and 2D views (individual left-eye and right-eye views) over a broad ...

Voice Quality Assessment and Visualization

2012 Sixth International Conference on Complex, Intelligent, and Software Intensive Systems, 2012
Commercial voice analysis systems are expensive and complicated. These equipments are only available at medical centers and need to be operated by well trained physicians. Thus the treatment costs of speech disorders are usually high. To improve this situation, we develop a software system dedicated to the assessment of human voice qualities.

Visual Quality of Watermarking on Mobile Devices

Color and Imaging Conference, 2005
Abstract— In this study, the visual quality of watermarked images, displayed on mobile devices, are evaluated. A watermarking technique in the spatial domain where a watermark is embedded into an image is considered. Three different types of images are considered and for each image five values of watermarking magnitude were tested.

A Salience‐based Quality Metric for Visualization

Computer Graphics Forum, 2010
AbstractSalience detection is a principle mechanism to facilitate visual attention. A good visualization guides the observer's attention to the relevant aspects of the representation. Hence, the distribution of salience over a visualization image is an essential measure of the quality of the visualization.

Measuring the quality of network visualization

Proceedings of the 5th ACM/IEEE-CS joint conference on Digital libraries, 2005
A quantitative method is developed for measuring the quality of network visualizations in terms of log-likelihood metrics resulted from Expectation Maximization (EM) clustering intrinsic and extrinsic attributes of network nodes.

Quality assessments for visual service

IEEE Communications Magazine, 1988
Three kinds of visual services, namely highly band-compressed, conventional, and high definition, are considered. Evaluation in terms of factors basic to all three classes are considered. The picture quality scale (PQS) is discussed, and its use in assessing color image coding and coder design is examined. Deterioration of moving images due to blur and

Visual Quality Assessment for Projected Content

2017 14th Conference on Computer and Robot Vision (CRV), 2017
Today's projectors are widely used for information and media display in a stationary setup. There is also a growing effort to deploy projectors creatively, such as using a mobile projector to display visual content on an arbitrary surface. However, the quality of projected content is often limited by the quality of projection surface, environment ...

Data Quality Visualization for Preprocessing

2016
Preprocessing is often the most time-consuming phase in data analysis and interdependent data quality issues a cause of suboptimal modelling results. The design problem addressed in this paper is: what kind of framework can support visualization of data quality issue interdependencies for faster and more effective preprocessing? An object framework was

Perception-based visual quality measures

2011 IEEE Conference on Visual Analytics Science and Technology (VAST), 2011
In recent years diverse quality measures to support the exploration of high-dimensional data sets have been proposed. Such measures can be very useful to rank and select information-bearing projections of very high dimensional data, when the visual exploration of all possible projections becomes unfeasible.
