Directional regularity for visual quality estimation

Signal Processing, 2015
In this paper, a reduced-reference image quality assessment metric is proposed, which measures the difference of the regularity of the projection spatial arrangements between the reference image and the distorted image. The projections of an image are first extracted by Radon transform.

An objective model for audio-visual quality

SPIE Proceedings, 2014
In this paper, we describe three psychophysical experiments with the goal of understanding the influence of audio and video components on the overall perceived audio- visual quality. In Experiment I, subjects evaluated the quality of videos (without any audio) compressed at different video bitrates.

Visual quality assessment for web videos

Journal of Visual Communication and Image Representation, 2010
The advent of video-sharing sites such as YouTube has led to an unprecedented Internet delivery of community-contributed video content. However, most of these videos are not quality-controlled. This paper reports a first attempt towards assessing web videos in terms of visual quality with significant tests on 30k web videos.

Modelling the Quality of Visual Creations in Iconoscope

2019
This paper presents the current state of the online game Iconoscope and analyzes the data collected from almost 45 months of continuous operation. Iconoscope is a freeform creation game which aims to foster the creativity of its users through diagrammatic lateral thinking, as users are required to depict abstract concepts as icons which may be ...

ESOM Visualizations for Quality Assessment in Clustering

2016
Classical clustering algorithms as well as intrinsic evaluation criteria impose predefined structures onto a data set. If the structures do not fit the data, the clustering will fail and the evaluation criteria will lead to erroneous conclusions. Recently, the abstract U-matrix has been defined for emergent self-organizing maps (ESOM). In this work the

Visualization of an Air Quality Measurement Network

1991
A basic task of environmental protection is the monitoring of the current environmental state. Although wishablefor most of the environmental parameters, it is not possible to make the monitoring process continually for everything. From the three basic media: air, water and ground, only for the air has continually monitoring widely been achieved within

Visual Quality Control

2014
Quality control is an interesting topic in signal processing. This chapter deals with quality control with a camera input to the algorithm. A literature overview is given. It is presented how the multiresolution can be used in this application. The last section explains how to use visualization techniques in dielectric material’s properties analysis.

Enhancing visual quality in mobile multimedia

IEEE Concurrency, 2000
The success of future generations of wireless technology will depend on their capability to provide reliable access to multimedia networks. Methods to diminish unpredictable channel errors in high-resolution applications, such as video telephony, are likely to dominate future research and development activities. Existing approaches based on intra-frame
