Towards Coordination-Intensive Visualization Software [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Most coordination realizations in current visualization systems are ''last-minute'' ad-hoc and rely on the richness of the chosen implementation language. Moreover, very few visualization models implicitly consider coordination.

Biophysical approaches for studying viral entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses infect all living organisms and have been responsible for major epidemics and pandemics. Their ongoing evolutionary battle with host defenses creates a constant need for improved tools to study viral behavior. Advancing methods to probe viral attachment, fusion, and genome release deepen our understanding of how infections begin and support the

Reliable uncertainty estimates in deep learning with efficient Metropolis-Hastings algorithms

open access: yesNature Communications
Approaching problems with data-driven models often requires reliable uncertainty estimates. Bayesian neural networks can offer these for deep learning models.

Rab14 regulates the transport of human papillomavirus to the trans‐Golgi network for infectious cell entry

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals that the small GTPase Rab14 is necessary for human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and plays an essential role in the transport of virions to the trans‐Golgi network (TGN). HPV in the early endosome (EE), which harbors GTP‐bound Rab14, is transported to the TGN through the switch of Rab14 from its GTP‐bound to GDP‐bound form.

Diffraction Efficiency Distribution of Output Grating in Holographic Waveguide Display System

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2018
Planar waveguide structure has benefits to expand the exit pupil of the near-eye display. To achieve a uniform output luminance within the expanded exit pupil, a specific distribution of diffractive efficiency (DE) should be set for the out-coupling ...

Issues of Dataflow and View Presentation in Multiple View Visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Multiple views and Multiform visualization are hot topics in the field of visualization. Multiple views represent a fan-out technology, where (for example) the same information is displayed in different forms and often in different windows.

Degradation mechanism of the von Willebrand factor A2 domain by nattokinase

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Nattokinase, a natto‐derived protease, exhibits potent antithrombotic effects. This study demonstrates that nattokinase directly cleaves the von Willebrand factor (vWF) A2 domain in vitro. Unlike the native regulator ADAMTS13, nattokinase degrades folded vWF independently of shear stress.

Impact of MRI radiomic feature normalization for prognostic modelling in uterine endometrial and cervical cancers

open access: yesScientific Reports
Widespread clinical use of MRI radiomic tumor profiling for prognostication and treatment planning in cancers faces major obstacles due to limitations in standardization of radiomic features.

A Coordination Model for Exploratory Multi-View Visualization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
In this paper, we present a coordination model for exploratory multi-view visualization. We base our work on current research in exploratory visualization and other disciplines.
