Single Test‐Based Diagnosis and Subtyping of Pulmonary Hypertension Caused by Fibrosing Mediastinitis Using Plasma Metabolic Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Pulmonary hypertension caused by fibrosing mediastinitis has a five‐year survival rate of just 56%. Current diagnostic approaches are complex for patients with mobility limitations and can lead to misdiagnoses due to their nonspecific clinical features.

Development and Validation of a Quantitative Analysis of Water-Soluble Vitamins Using High-Performance Thin-Layer Chromatography and Its Application to the Analysis of Nutraceuticals

open access: yesSeparations
In this study, a high-performance thin-layer chromatography (HPTLC)-based method was developed for the quantification of five water-soluble vitamins, B2, B3, B6, B12, and C, using ethanol–water (70:30, v/v) as the mobile phase.

A Rapid Cortical Learning Process Supporting Students’ Knowledge Construction During Real Classroom Teaching

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
There is growing interest in understanding how classroom teaching works, but previous theories and studies leave a gap in the neurocognitive mechanisms involved in real classroom teaching. Here we show that during real classroom teaching, students' middle frontal cortex serves as a hub of a rapid cortical learning process, supporting their knowledge ...

Effect of vitamin B 12 and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids on plasma homocysteine, ferritin, C-reaction protein, and other cardiovascular risk factors: a randomized controlled trial [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Objectives: Vitamin B 12 and n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFA) decrease blood homocysteine (Hcy) concentrations. However, the combined effect of these nutrients on Hcy and ferritin, and C-reactive protein is limited and inconclusive.

“Antenna Effect”‐Enhanced AuNPs@rGO Photothermal Coating Promotes 3D Printing of Osteogenic Active Scaffolds to Repair Bone Defects after Malignant Tumor Surgery

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The T‐rGO@Au scaffold incorporates an rGO@AuNP composite photothermal coating inspired by the “antenna effect.” Under near‐infrared light irradiation, the scaffold induces the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and localized thermal stimulation, leading to the effective elimination of tumor cells.

Multivariate Sparse Functional Linear Discriminant Analysis: An Application to Inflammatory Bowel Disease Classification [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD), including Crohn's Disease (CD) and Ulcerative Colitis (UC), presents significant public health challenges due to its complex etiology. Motivated by the IBD study of the Integrative Human Microbiome Project, our objective is to identify microbial pathways that distinguish between CD, UC and non-IBD over time.
