Adropin is related to the energy homeostasis‐associated gene. It significantly increased glutathione reductase enzyme levels in the pancreas of experimental diabetic rats. Adropin may reduce the severity of diabetes and its complications. Cell proliferation in the exocrine is reduced after the administration of adropin.

The current study characterized temporal changes in glomerular gene expression, pathology, and biomarkers in a mouse model of hypertension‐accelerated diabetic kidney disease (DKD). Progressive albuminuria and glomerulosclerosis were paralleled by dynamic transcriptomic changes associated withmetabolic dysfunction, extracellular matrix remodeling, and ...

Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) onset risk factors include Epstein–Barr virus (EBV) indices (including host response), lower serum 25‐vitamin D (25(OH)D) levels, low sun exposure, and HLA‐DRB1*1501. The underlying molecular mechanisms are unclear. Here, we examined mediation through differential DNA methylation (DNAm) to better understand possible ...

An 85 year old man had a preoperative assessment for a knee replacement. His full blood count was normal apart from haemoglobin 95 g/l and mean corpuscular volume 105 fl. He drank no alcohol. Further testing showed that his vitamin B-12 was low: 90 pmol/l (reference range 160-800 pmol/l).

Preparation of vitamin B-12-free serum for the use in vitamin B-12 radioassays
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1979In radioassays for serum vitamin B-12, the separation of free and bound vitamin is usually made with charcoal absorption. The specificity of this separation depends on the amount of charcoal and the protein content and constitution of the medium. The large difference in protein concentration between the samples for the dilution curve and the serum ...

The production of antibodies to vitamin B-12
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1979The conjugation of vitamin B-12 to HSA by means of a combined ethylcarbodiimide N-hydroxysuccinimide conjugation method at pH 5.5 is described. It gave a ratio of 2.7 mol vitamin B-12/mol HSA. Five rabbits were immunized with this conjugate emulsified in Freund's complete adjuvant. After one booster injection high titre antisera (1 : 450 000--1 : 1 500
