Serial measurements of vitamin B-12 and vitamin B-12-binding capacity in marasmic kwashiorkor
Clinica Chimica Acta, 1975Vitamin B-12 and total vitamin B-12-binding capacity (TBBC) have been determined by a radio-saturation assay in the blood of a large group of patients suffering from marasmic kwashiorkor on admission, and during their whole re-feeding. The results have been compared with values obtained in control children of the same ethnic group and with normal ...

Vitamin B, 12 Deficiency in the Elderly
Clinics in Geriatric Medicine, 1985Vitamin B 12 deficiency is usually a disease of older persons, and much controversy has surrounded the significance of the deficiency of this vitamin in these patients. This article explores the mechanism of action of vitamin B 12, the clinical and laboratory features of vitamin B 12 deficiency, and a rational treatment plan.

The Production of Vitamin B 12 in the Horse
British Veterinary Journal, 1971SUMMARY The concentration of vitamin B 12 in the contents of the alimentary tract of the horse was found to increase from stomach to rectum. Micro-organisms which produced vitamin B 12 in the different regions of the tract were isolated and identified as far as possible.

Biosynthesis of vitamin B-12 Part I. Role of the ribosomal proteins in vitamin B-12 biosynthesis
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - General Subjects, 19811. 70 S ribosomes isolated from strains of Escherichia coli 113-3, K12 and B take part in vitamin B-12 biosynthesis from AdoCbi-GDP, NAD and dimethylbenzimidazole in the presence of enzymes of the cytosol fraction. 2. 70 S ribosomes from E.coli 113-3 bind Ado[58Co]Cbi-GDP. This reaction is independent of fusidic acid. 3.
