Investigating the Utility of Explainable Artificial Intelligence for Neuroimaging‐Based Dementia Diagnosis and Prognosis

open access: yesHuman Brain Mapping, Volume 47, Issue 2, February 1, 2026.
Artificial intelligence has the potential to enhance clinical decision making, but complex black box models can be difficult to interpret and trust. Explainable artificial intelligence methods aim to open the black box by highlighting which features are driving the model's prediction.

A temporally abstracted Viterbi algorithm

open access: yes, 2012
Hierarchical problem abstraction, when applicable, may offer exponential reductions in computational complexity. Previous work on coarse-to-fine dynamic programming (CFDP) has demonstrated this possibility using state abstraction to speed up the Viterbi algorithm. In this paper, we show how to apply temporal abstraction to the Viterbi problem.

The Viterbi Algorithm for Subset Selection [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2015
We study the problem of sparse recovery in an overcomplete dictionary. This problem has attracted considerable attention in signal processing, statistics, and computer science, and a variety of algorithms have been developed to recover the sparse vector.

Robotic Cell Micromanipulation Skill Learning via Imitation‐Enhanced Reinforcement Learning

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 11, Issue 1, Page 123-136, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Humans can learn complex and dexterous manipulation tasks by observing videos, imitating and exploring. Multiple end‐effectors manipulation of free micron‐sized deformable cells is one of the challenging tasks in robotic micromanipulation. We propose an imitation‐enhanced reinforcement learning method inspired by the human learning process ...

Named Entity Recognition Model Based on k-best Viterbi Decoupling Knowledge Distillation [PDF]

open access: yesJisuanji kexue yu tansuo
Knowledge distillation is a general approach to improve the performance of the named entity recognition (NER) models. However, the classical knowledge distillation loss functions are coupled, which leads to poor logit distillation.

Free‐breathing 3D pulmonary ventilation mapping at 0.55 T using stack‐of‐spiral out‐in bSSFP

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 95, Issue 1, Page 430-441, January 2026.
Abstract Purpose To develop a free‐breathing pulmonary imaging technique that provides three‐dimensional (3D) structural images and regional ventilation maps, and to evaluate its repeatability and accuracy compared with two‐dimensional phase‐resolved functional lung (PREFUL) and global tidal volume.

Divergence coding for convolutional codes

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
In the paper we propose a new coding/decoding on the divergence principle. A new divergent multithreshold decoder (MTD) for convolutional self-orthogonal codes contains two threshold elements.
