Distributed Temporal Coding of Visual Memory Categories in Human Hippocampal Neurons Revealed by an Interpretable Decoding Model. [PDF]

open access: yesAdv Sci (Weinh)
This study examines how the human hippocampus encodes visual memory categories. By decoding spiking activity from CA3 and CA1 neurons using an interpretable model, it reveals that category‐specific representations emerge from distributed temporal coding.

AN EFFICIENT VITERBI DECODER [PDF]

open access: yesInternational Journal of Computer Science, Engineering and Applications, 2012
Convolutional encoding with Viterbi decoding is a good forward error correction technique suitable for channels affected by noise degradation. Fangled Viterbi decoders are variants of Viterbi decoder (VD) which decodes quicker and takes less memory with no error detection capability.

Node Synchronization for the Viterbi Decoder [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Transactions on Communications, 1984
Motivated by the needs of NASA's Voyager 2 mission, in this paper we describe an algorithm which detects and corrects losses of node synchronization in convolutionally encoded data. This algorithm, which would be implemented as a hardware device external to a Viterbi decoder, makes statistical decisions about node synch based on the hard-quantized ...

Deep Ensemble of Weighted Viterbi Decoders for Tail-Biting Convolutional Codes

open access: yesEntropy, 2021
Tail-biting convolutional codes extend the classical zero-termination convolutional codes: Both encoding schemes force the equality of start and end states, but under the tail-biting each state is a valid termination.

Viterbi decoding strategies for 5 GHz wireless LAN systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2001
Standards for the operation of wireless local area network (WLAN) technology in the 5 GHz band have been developed in Europe, North America and Japan. These systems employ orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) technology, and utilize forward ...

A Soft-Output STBC Decoder for Aeronautical Telemetry

open access: yesJournal of Telecommunications and Information Technology, 2020
Alamouti encoding is a well-known space time block encoding technique used to improve the received signal quality in Rayleigh fading channels. In aeronautical telemetry, this encoding technique is applied to shaped offset quadrature phase shift keying ...

FPGA implementation of trellis decoders for linear block codes [PDF]

open access: yesAdvances in Radio Science, 2014
Forward error correction based on trellises has been widely adopted for convolutional codes. Because of their efficiency, they have also gained a lot of interest from a theoretic and algorithm point of view for the decoding of block codes.

Performance of Soft Viterbi Decoder enhanced with Non-Transmittable Codewords for storage media

open access: yesCogent Engineering, 2018
The introduction of Non-Transmittable Codewords (NTCs) into Viterbi Algorithm Decoder has emerged as one of the best ways of improving performance of the Viterbi Algorithm Decoder.

Viterbi decoding on a coprocessor architecture with vector parallelism

open access: yes, 2003
A programmable coprocessor architecture combining VLIW and vector parallelism has been introduced (van Berkel, K. et al., Proc. World Wireless Congress, 2003). We present the mapping of the Viterbi decoding algorithm on this architecture.
