Ultrastructural Studies of Vitreomacular Traction Syndrome

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology, 1989
We performed electron microscopic studies on seven specimens removed from the posterior retina at the time of vitrectomy for vitreomacular traction syndrome. Fibrous astrocytes were the predominant cell type in all cases. Fibrocytes were present in two cases and myofibrocytes were seen in three cases.

Vitreomacular traction - a review. [PDF]

open access: yesEye (Lond)
Vitreomacular traction (VMT) is characterised by abnormal adhesion of the posterior cortical vitreous with the macula causing distortion of the foveal contour and associated with symptoms of reduction in visual acuity and/or metamorphopsia. This review article explores the pathophysiology, clinical features, diagnostic and treatment options for VMT ...

Progressive Release of Vitreomacular Traction With Aflibercept

open access: yesOphthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 2016
A patient with combined diabetic macular edema (DME) and vitreomacular traction (VMT) was treated with a series of intravitreal aflibercept (Eylea; Regeneron, Tarrytown, NY) injections. The VMT progressively released during the course of the five intravitreal injections.

Vitreomacular traction syndrome

open access: yesChinese Medical Journal, 2014
Objective This study aimed to review the available literature on vitreomacular traction (VMT) syndrome and propose the future study prospect in this field. Data sources The data used in this review were mainly obtained from articles listed in Medline and Pubmed (1970-2013).

Retinal Pigment Epithelium Tear after Vitrectomy for Vitreomacular Traction Syndrome in an Eye with Retinal Angiomatous Proliferation

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmology, 2013
An 87-year-old Japanese man presented with retinal angiomatous proliferation (RAP) and a retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) detachment in his right eye. His decimal best-corrected visual acuity was 0.15 in the right eye, and optical coherence tomography ...

Role of pars plana vitrectomy and membrane peel in vitreomacular traction associated with retinal vasoproliferative tumors

open access: yesOman Journal of Ophthalmology, 2016
To report a case of retinal vasoproliferative tumor (VPT) with secondary epiretinal membrane (ERM) formation and vitreo-macular traction managed by pars plana vitrectomy (PPV) and membrane peel. A 29-year-old male was referred for management of decreased

OCT proves that vitreomacular adhesion is significantly more likely to develop vision-threatening retinal complications than vitreomacular separation

open access: yesBMC Ophthalmology, 2020
Background SD-OCT is becoming commonplace in everyday practice. Vitreomacular adhesions (VMAs) are being more routinely diagnosed. Predictive studies to the natural course of VMA are thus clinically significant.
