Neural modulation of ocular immunity: Exploring a sympathetic‐macrophage neuroimmune link in the human ciliary body

open access: yesJournal of Anatomy, Volume 249, Issue 3, Page 565-577, September 2026.
Using microscopy and 3D confocal imaging on seven cadaveric eyes, we identified sympathetic nerves closely associated with β₂‐adrenergic receptor‐expressing macrophages in the human ciliary body (CB). These findings suggest a sympathetic‐macrophage neuroimmune link in the CB, potentially influencing ocular inflammation and degeneration, warranting ...

Vitreous Hemorrhage in Posterior Uveal Melanocytoma: Two Case Reports

open access: yesCase Reports in Ophthalmological Medicine
Conclusion: Melanocytomas are rare, benign melanocytic lesions that resemble nevi. In contrast to optic nerve melanocytoma, those involving the choroid and ciliary body lack specific clinical characteristics.

Limited Efficacy of Autologous Mesenchymal Stromal Cell Injections in Immunomodulatory‐Dependent Dogs With Aqueous Deficient Dry Eye Disease

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Objective Aqueous deficient dry eye disease (ADDE) results from a quantitative reduction in aqueous tears. We sought to determine the clinical effect of autologous mesenchymal stromal cell (MSC) injections into the region of the lacrimal gland and the gland of the third eyelid in immunomodulatory‐dependent ADDE‐affected dogs. Methods Dogs (n =

Prevalences of Known and Presumed Inherited Eye Diseases in Pugs in Germany

open access: yesVeterinary Ophthalmology, Volume 29, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT The aim of this retrospective study was to describe the prevalence and distribution of presumed inherited eye diseases in pugs in Germany and to evaluate potential risk factors for selected diseases. Therefore, ophthalmic findings from 294 pugs provided by the German panel of the European Eye Scheme programme were analyzed retrospectively ...

Image‐based evaluation of a commercial AI synthetic CT generator for brain and prostate MR‐only radiotherapy

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 8, August 2026.
Abstract Background Synthetic CTs (sCT) were developed to provide electron density information for MR‐only treatment planning. Some AI‐based sCT generators have received FDA‐clearance and better capture tissue heterogeneity through voxel‐wise mappings to improve image guidance and dose calculation.

Immune Analysis Using Vitreous Optical Coherence Tomography Imaging in Rats with Steroid-Induced Glaucoma

open access: yesBiomedicines
Glaucoma is a multifactorial pathology involving the immune system. The subclinical immune response plays a homeostatic role in healthy situations, but in pathological situations, it produces imbalances.

Preoperative Avapritinib for Localized PDGFRA‐Mutant GIST: Marked Pathologic Response, but Limited Feasibility at Standard Dosing

open access: yesCancer Medicine, Volume 15, Issue 8, August 2026.
In this two‐center retrospective series of eight patients with localized PDGFRA‐mutant gastric GIST treated with preoperative avapritinib, therapy produced substantial antitumor activity, including tumor reduction in 7 of 8 patients and complete or near‐complete pathologic response in all resected patients.
