Spatiotemporal evolution, mineralogical composition, and transport mechanisms of long-runout landslides in Valles Marineris, Mars [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Long-runout landslides with transport distances of >50 km are ubiquitous in Valles Marineris (VM), yet the transport mechanisms remain poorly understood.

A method to increase reproducibility in adult ventricular myocyte sizing and flow cytometry: Avoiding cell size bias in single cell preparations. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
RATIONALE:Flow cytometry (FCM) of ventricular myocytes (VMs) is an emerging technology in adult cardiac research that is challenged by the wide variety of VM shapes and sizes.

A detailed VM profiler for the Cog VM [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the 12th edition of the International Workshop on Smalltalk Technologies, 2017
Code profiling enables a user to know where in an application or function the execution time is spent. The Pharo ecosystem offers several code profilers. However, most of the publicly available profilers (MessageTally, Spy, GadgetPro-filer) largely ignore the activity carried out by the virtual machine , thus incurring inaccuracy in the gathered ...

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

Post-castration variations in weight gain in a cohort of young adult male cats*

open access: yesJournal of Nutritional Science, 2014
The predisposition of cats to gain weight following neutering is well established; however, there is little information about the distribution and range of post-neutering weight gains observed in cats under a controlled environment.

Diffusion bonding of IN 718 to VM 350 grade maraging steel [PDF]

open access: yes, 1972
Diffusion bonding studies have been conducted on IN 718, VM 350 and the dissimilar alloy couple, IN 718 to maraging steel. The experimental processing parameters critical to obtaining consistently good diffusion bonds between IN 718 and VM 350 were ...

TRPV4 Contributes to Resting Membrane Potential in Retinal Müller Cells: Implications in Cell Volume Regulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Neural activity alters osmotic gradients favoring cell swelling in retinal Müller cells. This swelling is followed by a regulatory volume decrease (RVD), partially mediated by an efflux of KCl and water. The transient receptor potential channel 4 (TRPV4),

KLK7 overexpression promotes an aggressive phenotype and facilitates peritoneal dissemination in colorectal cancer cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
KLK7, a tissue kallikrein‐related peptidase, is elevated in advanced colorectal cancer and associated with shorter survival. High KLK7 levels in ascites correlate with peritoneal metastasis. In mice, KLK7 overexpression increases metastasis. In vitro, KLK7 enhances cancer cell proliferation, migration, adhesion, and spheroid formation, driving ...

Mathematical Modeling of Solutes Migration under the Conditions of Groundwater Filtration by the Model with the k-Caputo Fractional Derivative

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2018
Within the framework of a new mathematical model of convective diffusion with the k-Caputo derivative, we simulate the dynamics of anomalous soluble substances migration under the conditions of two-dimensional steady-state plane-vertical filtration with ...

dUTPase is essential in zebrafish development and possesses several single‐nucleotide variants with pronounced structural and functional consequences

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
dUTPases are involved in balancing the appropriate nucleotide pools. We showed that dUTPase is essential for normal development in zebrafish. The different zebrafish genomes contain several single‐nucleotide variations (SNPs) of the dut gene. One of the dUTPase variants displayed drastically lower protein stability and catalytic efficiency as compared ...
