Coming out of the cold: Vanadium is an important player in N‐fixation in warm tropical environments
Abstract Nitrogen (N)‐fixation is a crucial source of reactive N in terrestrial environments. The nitrogenase enzyme (Nase), responsible for this conversion, has three isoforms: molybdenum (Mo)‐, vanadium (V)‐, and iron (Fe)‐Nases. The Mo‐Nase is found in all N‐fixers, but the distribution pattern and drivers of V‐ and Fe‐Nases remain poorly understood.

Reducing Service Deployment Cost Through VNF Sharing [PDF]
Thanks to its computational and forwarding capa- bilities, the mobile network infrastructure can support several third-party (“vertical”) services, each composed of a graph of virtual (network) functions (VNFs).

Deep Reinforcement Learning for Robust VNF Reconfigurations in O-RAN
Open Radio Access Networks (O-RANs) have revolutionized the telecom ecosystem by bringing intelligence into disaggregated RAN and implementing functionalities as Virtual Network Functions (VNF) through open interfaces. However, dynamic traffic conditions

VNF Placement and Sharing in NFV-based Cellular Networks [PDF]
Network Function Virtualization is one of the most relevant enabling technologies for 5G: conceiving a vertical service as a set of virtual functions (a.k.a. VNFs) makes it possible to implement a service at the network edge in a fast and flexible manner,

On Coding for Reliable VNF Chaining in DCNs [PDF]
We study how erasure coding can improve service reliability in Data Center Networks (DCN). To this end, we find that coding can be best deployed in systems, where i) traffic is split into multiple parallel sub-flows, ii) each sub-flow is encoded; iii) SFC along with their corresponding Virtual Network Functions (VNF) concatenated are replicated into at

ABSTRACT Introduction Glucagon‐like peptide‐1 receptor agonists (GLP‐1 RA) improve outcomes in heart failure (HF) with preserved ejection fraction. Whether GLP‐1 RA prevent new‐onset HF in Type 2 diabetes or obesity requires further investigation. Methods We performed an updated meta‐analysis of randomized placebo‐controlled trials (RCT) of treatment ...

ASA: Adaptive VNF Scaling Algorithm for 5G Mobile Networks [PDF]
5G mobile networks introduce Virtualized Network Functions (VNFs) to provide flexible services for incoming huge mobile data traffic. Compared with fixed capacity legacy network equipment, VNFs can be scaled in/out to adjust system capacity.

A Reliability Study of Parallelized VNF Chaining [PDF]
In this paper, we study end-to-end service reliability in Data Center Networks (DCN) with flow and Service Function Chains (SFCs) parallelism. In our approach, we consider large flows to i) be split into multiple parallel smaller sub-flows; ii) SFC along with their VNFs are replicated into at least as many VNF instances as there are sub-flows ...

Strategic Key Performance Indicators for AI in Lead Optimization
As AI becomes an integral assistant in lead optimization, measuring its true value requires a shift from technical metrics to strategic key performance indicators (KPIs). This perspective from the EFMC2 initiative recommends specific, impact‐oriented KPIs to objectively assess how digital tools enhance decision‐making and impact top‐line results.

Service Function Chain Update and Buffer Scheduling Model With State Consistency
A service function chain (SFC) is a set of virtualized network functions (VNFs) concatenated in a virtualized network. Paths of SFCs need to be updated to achieve load balancing and security.
