Identification of voices in electronically disguised speech
International Journal of Speech Language and the Law, 2008We describe an experiment on the effects of electronic vocal disguise on speaker identification. 36 listeners were trained to identify four voices. They then participated in listening tests in which their task was to identify speakers in a set of short stimuli. In the first test the stimuli were natural.

Formant manipulations in voice disguise by mimicry
2016 4th International Conference on Biometrics and Forensics (IWBF), 2016The human voice can be disguised in many ways. The purpose of disguise could either be to impersonate another person, or to conceal the identity of the original speaker, or both. On the other hand, the goal of any biometric analysis on disguised voices could also be twofold: either to find out if the originator of the disguised voice is a given speaker,

Multimedia analysis for disguised voice and classification efficiency
Multimedia Tools and Applications, 2018For multimedia analysis of electronic disguised method is a speech editing process in which the characteristics of voice have been changed. Frequency spectrum characteristics of the speech signal during electronic disguised have also changed. In this paper proposed a method for deriving an algorithm for extracted the efficiency of disguised voice from ...

Verification of hidden speaker behind transformation disguised voices
Digital Signal Processing, 2015We investigate the effects of voice transformation disguise on ASV performance. We propose an algorithm to estimate transformation factor. We propose an algorithm to restore the genuine acoustic characteristics. We integrate the above algorithms into GMM-UBM based ASV system. The proposed approach achieves 3-4% EER.

The effects of voice disguise upon formant transition
ICASSP '86. IEEE International Conference on Acoustics, Speech, and Signal Processing, 2005The second degree polynomial approximation coefficients of formant transition and transition duration, as the speaker specific aspects, have been studied under normal and diguised speech conditions. The speech material in this study consists of 10 segments occuring in a text read by twenty speakers.

Acoustic analysis of whispery voice disguise in Chinese
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2017This paper investigates the auditory and acoustical features of disguised whispery voices, the acoustic difference between normal (non-disguised) voices and whispery voices, and the effect of whispery disguise on forensic speaker recognition. Recordings of eleven male college students’ normal voices and whispery disguised voices were collected.

Speaker Identification for Disguised Voices Based on Modified SVM Classifier
2021 18th International Multi-Conference on Systems, Signals & Devices (SSD), 2021Since voice disguise forms a significant threat in the plethora of illegal applications, it is essential to be able to identify the unknown speaker. This work focuses on scheming a modified Support Vector Machine (SVM) as a classifier to enhance the degraded speaker identification performance for disguised voices under an extreme high-pitched condition

A report on a voice disguise experiment
The International Journal of Speech, Language and the Law, 1996Voice disguise is potentially present in any speech-specific criminal case. Appropriate methods of analysing and evaluating voice disguise therefore are necessary. An experiment was conducted in which 20 subjects provided samples of their modal as well as disguised voices.

Glottal fry and voice disguise: a case study in forensic phonetics
Journal of Biomedical Engineering, 1993In recent legal proceedings, forensic phoneticians were called upon to analyse a tape-recorded message intended for the blackmail of a bank manager following the kidnap of his wife. The brief was to establish the likelihood that the tape recording may have been made by any one of three suspects, samples of whose speech were also made available.
