ASSESSMENT OF MIX PROPORTIONS FOR DEVELOPING LIGHTWEIGHT CEMENTITIOUS COMPOSITES WITH WOOD WASTES

open access: yesRevista Árvore
The main objective of this work was to assess mix proportions for developing lightweight cementitious composites, manufactured with Eucalyptus grandis sawdust. Different wood:cement, water:cement and admixture:cement ratios were used to evaluate physical

Mechanical and Water Transport Characterization of Indian Almond – Banana Fibers Reinforced Hybrid Composites for Structural Applications

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
In this investigation, hybrid composites were prepared for structural applications using Indian almond and Banana fibers by hand layup method. Five types of composites were fabricated viz. I-I-I-I, I-B-B-I, I-B-I-B, B-I-I-B & B-B-B-B and the mechanical &

Tensile and Water Absorption Properties of FRP Composite Laminates without Voids and with Voids

open access: yesProcedia Engineering, 2017
Abstract This project work is done to know the effect of voids in the FRP composites. The FRP composites are fabricated with hand molding process. First few samples are fabricated with the normal procedure. The sample size is as per ASTM D 638. These samples were assumed to be free of voids.

Computational design for 4D printing of topology optimized multi-material active composites

open access: yesnpj Computational Materials, 2023
Recent efforts on design for four-dimensional (4D) printing have considered the spatial arrangement of smart materials and energy stimuli. The development of multifunctional structures and their desired mechanical/actuation performances require tackling ...

Aggressive prostate cancer is associated with pericyte dysfunction

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Tumor‐produced TGF‐β drives pericyte dysfunction in prostate cancer. This dysfunction is characterized by downregulation of some canonical pericyte markers (i.e., DES, CSPG4, and ACTA2) while maintaining the expression of others (i.e., PDGFRB, NOTCH3, and RGS5).

Characterization of various kinds of paper as reinforcement for biodegradable polymer composites; pp. 40–44 [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the Estonian Academy of Sciences, 2009
Some structural characteristics and properties of a diverse paper selection were studied with the aim to create biodegradable polymer composites for packaging materials. Paper in such composites would serve as a reinforcement and biodegradable polymer as

CDK11 inhibition induces cytoplasmic p21WAF1 splice variant by p53 stabilisation and SF3B1 inactivation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
CDK11 inhibition stabilises the tumour suppressor p53 and triggers the production of an alternative p21WAF1 splice variant p21L, through the inactivation of the spliceosomal protein SF3B1. Unlike the canonical p21WAF1 protein, p21L is localised in the cytoplasm and has reduced cell cycle‐blocking activity.

Reduced vascular leakage correlates with breast carcinoma T regulatory cell infiltration but not with metastatic propensity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A mouse model for vascular normalization and a human breast cancer cohort were studied to understand the relationship between vascular leakage and tumor immune suppression. For this, endothelial and immune cell RNAseq, staining for vascular function, and immune cell profiling were employed.

A review of void formation and its effects on the mechanical performance of carbon fiber reinforced plastic

open access: yesEngineering Transactions, 2016
Carbon fiber reinforced plastic (CFRP) is ideal for high performance of mechanical properties. However, during the manufacturing process of CFRP, defects or flaws can easily be introduced into the material, among which void is the most common one.
