Measuring the notched compressive strength of composite laminates: Specimen size effects [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Large fibre reinforced composite structures can give much lower strengths than small test specimens, so a proper understanding of scaling is vital for their safe and efficient use.

Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Processing Dynamics of 3D-Printed Carbon Nanotubes-Epoxy Composites [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2021
Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs)-polymer composites are promising candidates for a myriad of applications. Ad-hoc CNTs-polymer composite fabrication techniques inherently pose roadblock to optimized processing resulting in microstructural defects i.e., void formation, poor interfacial adhesion, wettability, and agglomeration of CNTs inside the polymer matrix ...

A study on the compressive strength of thick carbon fibre-epoxy laminates [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper describes an experimental study that examines the effect of specimen size on the axial compressive strength of IM7/8552 carbon fibre/epoxy unidirectional laminates (UD).

Targeting the MDM2‐MDM4 interaction interface reveals an otherwise therapeutically active wild‐type p53 in colorectal cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study investigates an alternative approach to reactivating the oncosuppressor p53 in cancer. A short peptide targeting the association of the two p53 inhibitors, MDM2 and MDM4, induces an otherwise therapeutically active p53 with unique features that promote cell death and potentially reduce toxicity towards proliferating nontumor cells.

Void Nucleation and Growth from Heterophases and the Exploitation of New Toughening Mechanisms in Metals

open access: yesCrystals, 2023
Heterophases, such as precipitates, inclusions, second phases, or reinforcement particles, often drive void nucleation due to local incompatibilities in stresses/strains.

The unified version of mixing maps between non-void sets [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
The nonlinear concepts of mixed summable families and maps for the spaces that only non-void sets are developed. Several characterizations of the corresponding concepts are achieved and the proof for a general Pietsch Domination-type theorem is established.

Infiltration Condition and Mouldability Diagram in Resin Injection Moulding [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
This paper deals with the modelling of injection moulding processes taking into account the deformability of the preform and the polymerisation of the resin.

Thermal proteome profiling and proteome analysis using high‐definition mass spectrometry demonstrate modulation of cholesterol biosynthesis by next‐generation galeterone analog VNPP433‐3β in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Elevated level of cholesterol is positively correlated to prostate cancer development and disease severity. Cholesterol‐lowering drugs, such as statins, are demonstrated to inhibit prostate cancer. VNPP433‐3β interrupts multiple signaling and metabolic pathways, including cholesterol biosynthesis, AR‐mediated transcription of several oncogenes, mRNA 5′

Physio-Mechanical Characterization of Jute/Kevlar Hybrid Composites Coupled with MADM Approach for Selection of Composites

open access: yesJournal of Natural Fibers, 2022
The present study aims at exploring the possible usage of natural and synthetic fiber-reinforced hybrid composites for structural applications. Jute and Kevlar-reinforced hybrid composites with different stacking sequences, namely, jute-kevlar-jute (JKJ)
