Hail to the thief: spectral egalitarianism in the Moroccan High Atlas Songez au voleur ! les spectres de l’égalitarisme dans le Haut‐Atlas marocain

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, Volume 32, Issue S1, Page 104-120, March 2026.
This essay examines the spectres haunting ideas of egalitarianism among Tashelhiyt‐speaking communities in the Moroccan High Atlas: first, the tyrant, an obvious frontal threat to ideas of equality; and then the vastly more complex figure of the thief (amkhar).

Screw Length in Volar Locking Plate Fixation for Distal Radial Fractures [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Orthopaedic Surgery, 2015
Purpose. To develop a reference for the distal screw length in volar locking plate fixation for distal radial fractures in an East Asian population. Methods. 12 pairs of forearm specimens from 11 male and one female East Asian cadavers were scanned using computed tomography. On sagittal images of the distal radius, the mean cortex-to-cortex distance of

Advanced Human Immune Cell‐Organoid Co‐Cultures for Functional Testing of Cancer Nanovaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 10, 18 February 2026.
Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma remains difficult to treat. We establish an organoid–immune co‐culture using patient‐derived organoids and matched T‐cells to assess cancer vaccines. A mesothelin‐targeted nanovaccine activates antigen‐specific T‐cells, increases IFN‐γ, and targets MSLN+ organoids.

Difficulty in Fixation of the Volar Lunate Facet Fragment in Distal Radius Fracture

open access: yesCase Reports in Orthopedics, 2017
Recent reports suggest the presence of a rare fracture type for which reduction and fixation cannot be achieved with volar locking plate (VLP). In particular, it is difficult to achieve reduction and fixation with volar lunate facet (VLF) fragments ...

Randomized clinical trial on percutaneous minimally invasive osteosynthesis of fractures of the distal extremity of the radius,

open access: yesRevista Brasileira de Ortopedia, 2014
OBJECTIVES: the purpose of this study was to compare the postoperative radiological and clinical outcomes with minimally invasive percutaneous osteosynthesis using three implants: volar locking plate, intramedullary nail system and nonbridging external ...

Empowering Flexible Electronics with Piezoelectric Nanogenerators: Breakthroughs from Energy Harvesting to Intelligent Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 7, 3 February 2026.
This review systematically summarizes recent advances in self‐powered flexible sensing and energy storage systems based on piezoelectric nanogenerators (PENGs). It highlights their fundamental mechanisms, structural designs, and applications in health monitoring, e‐skin, and tactile sensing. The integration of PENGs with supercapacitors or batteries is

Carpal Alignment in Distal Radius Fractures Following Volar Locking Plate Fixation

open access: yesJournal of Hand Surgery Global Online, 2019
Purpose: To investigate the correlation between changes in carpal alignment, particularly capitate position, and functional outcomes after open reduction internal fixation with a volar locking plate to treat unstable distal radius fractures.

Incidence of Corrective Procedures After Nonoperatively Managed Distal Radius Fractures in the Elderly. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Although the majority distal radius fractures in the elderly are initially managed nonoperatively, the true incidence of subsequent corrective surgery is unknown.

Definition of infection after fracture fixation: A systematic review of randomized controlled trials to evaluate current practice [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction: One of the most challenging musculoskeletal complications in modern trauma surgery is infection after fracture fixation (IAFF). Although infections are clinically obvious in many cases, a clear definition of the term IAFF is crucial, not ...

Distal radius measurements and efficacy of fixed-angle locking volar plates

open access: yesTURKISH JOURNAL OF MEDICAL SCIENCES, 2014
For surgical treatment of unstable distal radius fractures, fixed-angled locking volar plate fixation is becoming popular nowadays because of some advantages over other surgical techniques. In this article, we discuss the fitting of fixed-angle locking volar plates to the distal radius in relation to the changes in the distal radial angles.First, we ...
