Leukemia and Exposure to Potential Benzene Sources in Children From the Mexico City Metropolitan Area, 2010–2021: A Geospatial Analysis

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Leukemia is the most common childhood cancer in Mexico, and acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is the most frequent subtype. Exposure to high concentrations of benzene has been associated with ALL incidence, particularly in urban areas. This study evaluated the relationship between distance to benzene emission sources and the number

Sociodemographic Factors Associated With Later Stage at Diagnosis of Pediatric Germ Cell Tumors: A Report From Children's Oncology Group Registries ACCRN07 and APEC14B1

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Germ cell tumors (GCTs) often arise in the ovaries and testes (extracranial) but can also develop in the brain (intracranial). We examined the relationship of individual, family, and community‐level socioeconomic status (SES) with stage of disease at diagnosis in a cohort of pediatric patients with GCT from Children's Oncology Group

Enteropathogenic E. coli shows delayed attachment and host response in human jejunum organoid‐derived monolayers compared to HeLa cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Enteropathogenic E. coli (EPEC) infects the human intestinal epithelium, resulting in severe illness and diarrhoea. In this study, we compared the infection of cancer‐derived cell lines with human organoid‐derived models of the small intestine. We observed a delayed in attachment, inflammation and cell death on primary cells, indicating that host ...

Optimal control set expansion method for three‐phase voltage source converter with slip window selection and online parameter modification

open access: yesIET Power Electronics
Finite control set model predictive control (FCS‐MPC) has been widely used in the control of three‐phase voltage source converter (VSC), but its control performance declines sharply at low sampling frequencies.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

A Generalised Power Synchronisation Loop Design for Performance Enhancement of Grid‐Forming Converter

open access: yesIET Smart Grid
The dynamic characteristics of a grid‐forming converter (GFM) directly affect the stable operation of converter‐based power systems, where the power synchronisation loop plays a critical role in the shaping of the dynamic characteristics of the GFM ...

Initialisation of a hybrid AC/DC power system for harmonic stability analysis using a power flow formulation

open access: yesHigh Voltage, 2020
This study presents the initialisation of a hybrid alternating current/direct current (AC/DC) power system to determine the operation point around which the system is linearised as a starting point for an electromagnetic or harmonic stability analysis ...
