BRAVO: Balanced Reliability-Aware Voltage Optimization

2017 IEEE International Symposium on High Performance Computer Architecture (HPCA), 2017
Defining a processor micro-architecture for a targeted productspace involves multi-dimensional optimization across performance, power and reliability axes. A key decision in sucha definition process is the circuit-and technology-driven parameterof the nominal (voltage, frequency) operating point.

Balancing high-voltage batteries

Power Engineering Journal, 1991
How often do we hear, at the site of a natural disaster such as a storm or flood1, ‘if only I'd made sure my insurance policy was up to date! ’ It is always easy to be wise after the event, and all too easy to be misled into believing that cover is adequate to cope with any emergency. So it is with standby battery systems.

Voltage balance for replacing the kilogram

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1995
The paper gives a short description of the basic principle of work of the ETF Voltage Balances, as well as the measurement procedures enabling the absolute determination of the Volt. We review previous results, and estimate the expected uncertainties for further experiments using the so-called charge-method.

Scott transformer based voltage balancing in low voltage distribution networks

2013 IEEE Grenoble Conference, 2013
This paper will introduce a low voltage (LV) radial feeder balancing method using Scott transformers. The balancing method converts an unbalanced three-phase voltage into a balanced three-phase voltage and is designed to be used at either a downstream LV feeder location or at a three-phase load supply point. Its impact on LV protection relaying is also

New Topology for voltage balancing in railway substations

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 2012
Abstract This paper deals with a new technique of voltage unbalance compensation for single phase railway substations. Using the concept of Chopper Controlled Impedance, the authors study the feasibility of an active Steinmetz circuit based on AC choppers.

A Self-Balancing High-Voltage Capacitance Bridge

IEEE Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement, 1964
A self-balancing high-voltage capacitance ratio bridge, especially designed for continuous measurement of corona losses on experimental transmission lines, is described. The instrument is derived by combining a negative-feedback amplifier with a high-voltage capacitance bridge based on the current comparator principle.

Series connection of IGBT's with active voltage balancing

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1999
This paper describes a gate drive circuit for series-connected IGBTs in high voltage applications. The control criterion of the gate drive circuit is to actively limit the voltages during switching transients, while minimizing the switching transient and losses. In order to achieve the control criterion, a closed loop control scheme is adopted.

Voltage-Balancing Method for IGBTs Connected in Series

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 2003
This paper presents a new method for balancing voltages of series-connected insulated gate bipolar transistors (IGBTs). This method can be implemented only by adding simple circuits to the gate drive system of the IGBTs, and its effect of balancing the IGBT's collector-emitter voltages during the switching transients is remarkable.

Grounding banks for balancing feeder voltages

Electrical Engineering, 1951
DISTRIBUTION engineers, seeking means to provide a better balance of neutral voltage on 3-phase feeders, have suggested the use of grounding banks at one or more points along the feeder. The term 'grounding bank' is used here to mean a Y-delta transformer bank, the Y side tapped from the feeder with the Y neutral connected to the system neutral ...

A UPFC-based voltage compensator with current and voltage balancing function

Twentieth Annual IEEE Applied Power Electronics Conference and Exposition, 2005. APEC 2005., 2005
In this paper, a control strategy for a three-phase UPFC-based voltage compensator with the function of current and voltage balancing is proposed. Line voltage variations and line current and voltage unbalance are compensated simultaneously by the proposed compensator.
