Voltage Balance and Control in a Multilevel Unified Power Flow Controlier [PDF]
The neutral-point-clamped multilevel converter is an attractive implementation of the unified power flow controller because it facilitates back-to-back operation, high-voltage operation (without direct series connection of devices), and low distortion (without the use of multipulse transformers). A UPFC using three converters is proposed.

DC Voltage Balance Control Strategy for Medium Voltage Cascaded STATCOM Based on Distributed Control
DC bus capacitors of Medium Voltage Cascaded STATCOM are independent. DC side voltage balance control method is the key influencing factor of current control. The imbalance of DC bus voltage increases harmonic current and affects the safety of device. In this paper, the unbalance mechanism of DC side capacitor voltage is analyzed. Based on the unipolar

Arm voltage balancing control of modular multilevel resonant converter [PDF]
Modular multilevel resonant converter is an promising candidate for high voltage applications since it has advantageous features, such as high efficiency, high voltage capability and easy fault-tolerant operation. However, the inequality of arm inductance in practice will lead to imbalance between the upper and lower arm voltages, which will induce ...
