A new experimental methodology to assess the wall pressure generated by a high-voltage underwater Spark-generated bubble

open access: yesResults in Physics, 2019
A new experimental methodology and test system is proposed to assess the wall pressure due to the high-voltage underwater Spark-generated bubble. In the methodology, a Hopkinson bar is used as the sensing element and the pressure signal is obtained based

Bifurcations, Chaos and Crises in Power System Voltage Collapse [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Bifurcations occurring in power system models exhibiting voltage collapse have been the subject of several recent studies. Although such models have been shown to admit a variety of bifurcation phenomena, the view that voltage collapse is triggered by ...

Stretching the Printability Metric in Direct‐Ink Writing with Highly Extensible Yield‐Stress Fluids

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces “drawability” as a new metric for assessing printability in direct‐ink writing, focusing on gap‐spanning performance and speed robustness. By designing yield‐stress fluids with high extensibility, we demonstrate that extensional strain‐to‐break significantly enhances printability.

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,

Mechanical Behavior and Fracture Mechanisms of MXene/PVDF Nanocomponsites: In Situ Characterization and Multiscale Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Multiscale experiments and modeling reveal how Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets reinforce PVDF nanocomposites. An optimal MXene loading (∼1 wt.%) nearly doubles tensile strength through efficient stress transfer, flake alignment, and crack‐deflection mechanisms, transforming ductile polymer behavior into a controlled multi‐stage fracture pathway which aligns ...

Fast Charge–Discharge of LiNi0.9Co0.05Mn0.05 Enabled by a Bikitaite‐Infused Separator for Li Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A bikitaite‐infused cellulose separator is introduced for Li metal batteries, leveraging bikitaite zeolite's ion‐conductive properties to regulate Li+‐ion flux and suppress dendrite growth. The membrane design ensures uniform Li plating, enhanced electrolyte wettability, and robust thermal/mechanical stability, delivering stable performance and low ...
