A high-efficiency CMOS voltage doubler

IEEE Journal of Solid-State Circuits, 1998
A charge pump cell is used to make a voltage doubler using improved serial switches. A complete power efficiency theory is presented which fits the measurements. The importance of capacitors is shown with plots of power efficiency versus load and stray capacitors.

A breakdown voltage doubler for high voltage swing drivers

Proceedings of the IEEE 2004 Custom Integrated Circuits Conference (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37571), 2004
A novel breakdown voltage (BV) doubler is introduced that makes it possible to generate high output voltage swings using transistors with low breakdown voltages. The timing analysis of the stage is used to optimize its dynamic response. A 10 Gb/s optical modulator driver with a differential output voltage swing of 8 V on a 50 /spl Omega/ load was ...

Design of Maximum-Efficiency Integrated Voltage Doubler

2007 IEEE International Symposium on Circuits and Systems (ISCAS), 2007
In this paper, an algorithm and the analytical expressions to be used for the design of maximum-efficiency integrated charge pumps based on the voltage doubler architecture are presented. Starting from basic considerations on charge transfer, the proposed methodology allows adequate choice of the stage number and of the size of all charge pump elements,

A Low Ripple Current Mode Voltage Doubler

2015 IEEE 18th International Symposium on Design and Diagnostics of Electronic Circuits & Systems, 2015
Experimental results of a fully integrated low ripple charge pump voltage converter are presented. The pump is a current mode voltage doubler with a novel parasitic capacitance precharge mechanism for output voltage ripple reduction. A prototype of the pump was designed and fabricated in 130 nm CMOS process.

A low-voltage voltage doubler without body effect

2008 9th International Conference on Solid-State and Integrated-Circuit Technology, 2008
A voltage doubler, which avoids body effect and then improves rise time and efficiency even with 1 V power supply, is presented. This art is designed for word line boosting, using 0.18 um EEPROM technology. Not only the voltage doubler can work with capacitive load normally, but also it can supply load current and achieve higher efficiency.

Yield optimization of a RSFQ voltage doubler

Journal of Low Temperature Physics, 1997
The centers-of-gravity optimization method has been applied to optimize a complex circuit consisting of a dc/SFQ-converter and RSFQ voltage doubler in order to obtain maximum parameter margins. As a result, the margins of all circuit parameters have been enlarged to at least ±35%. This improves the yield of the circuit fabrication process. On the other

A novel voltage doubler rectifier for high output voltage applications

The 2010 International Power Electronics Conference - ECCE ASIA -, 2010
By integrating a novel voltage doubler rectifier with a classical current-fed converter, a current-fed push-pull boost converter with voltage doubler (CFBCVD) is presented. In addition to having a non-pulsating input current, recovery of the secondary leakage energy, low output capacitor current ripple, much lower rectifier diode voltage stress, and ...

A zero voltage switching switched capacitor voltage doubler

2012 IEEE International Symposium on Industrial Electronics, 2012
Switched capacitor converter has advantages such as no magnetic components, compact size. With the target to reach high power, high switching frequency is preferred. In order to achieve high efficiency, soft switching becomes vital. This paper proposes a soft switched voltage doubler and its PWM scheme, with which, all switches in the converter turns ...

Flyback battery equalizer with voltage doubler rectifier

8th International Conference on Power Electronics - ECCE Asia, 2011
In this paper, a new flyback battery equalizer employing a voltage doubler rectifier is proposed. The proposed circuit transfers electric charges by utilizing the resonance between the transformer leakage inductor and secondary capacitor. Therefore, the proposed battery equalizer can reduce the switch turn off loss and snubber loss by a sinusoidal ...

A power factor correction with voltage doubler rectifier

2000 26th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society. IECON 2000. 2000 IEEE International Conference on Industrial Electronics, Control and Instrumentation. 21st Century Technologies and Industrial Opportunities (Cat. No.00CH37141), 2002
For small capacity rectifier circuits with a small capacity, such as those for consumer electronics and appliances, capacitor input type rectifier circuits are generally used. Consequently, various harmonics generated within the power system become a serious problem. Various studies of this effect have been presented previously so far. However, most of
